Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars One of my first CD's.......2004-10-08

This is one of the first cd's I ever gotten... I still have it to this day... scratched to def! But my favorite songs were Curiousity, Problems, and Gin and Juice.... I loved that Gin and Juice song!

5 out of 5 stars Amazing.......2004-08-20

Even though this music is dated, it is still extremely good. The powerful song lyrics shows what life is like for depressed inner city areas and how it expresses the artist's true inner feelings. I will always listen to this CD from a wonderful movie.

4 out of 5 stars Anyone saying these are "unknown artists" ...........2004-01-28

loses all credibility. The artists from this disc are all very well known - Coolio, Aaron Hall, Rappin' 4 Tay, Dalvin (of Jodeci), Immature, Sista (Missy Elliot's group), DeVante Swing (the best producer of the '90s) .... how anybody could say these are "unknown artists" is beyond me, unless they just don't listen to urban music?????

Ya'll know Gangsta's Paradise. Even though I'm not a Coolio fan in the least, that song was bangin.

Curiousity, written by Missy Elliot and Dalvin, performed by Aaron Hall is a good midtempo R&B joint. Classic Dalvin.

Havin' Thangs - err, ok song. Nothing great at all.

Problems - A great conscience song by Rappin 4 Tay. He's good at what he does.

True OG - Mr. Dalvin and Static (of Playa) Great song. Dalvin and Static rap, although both are known for their R&B groups. PS - Static wrote Ginuwine's "Pony" ... if you don't know, do your homework.

Put Your Back Into It, Don't Go There -> neither song is worth anything

Feel The Funk - Possibly one of Immature's / IMX's best songs.

It's Alright - Missy Elliot's group Sista, a very underrated group and Craig Mack show why Missy blew up years following.

A Message for Your Mind - Rappin' 4 Tay - same west coast, conscience-heavy style he is known for.

Gin & Juice - DeVante Swing ft Static - BEST SONG ON THE ALBUM. DeVante's production is nuts on this, great party song. DeVante sings (which is rare) and he STARTED R Kelly's sing/rap/talk style before Kelly popularized it. Honestly, this has been my favorite song for 8 years now.

This is the Life - Wendy and Lisa, of Prince's camp. i'm not a fan, but hey, they're talented girls.

4 out of 5 stars Very first CD I owned!.......2002-09-16

Actually I originally owned this on cassette, then my mom's friend ruined it and I had to get the CD, but I loved listening to this tape. It had that warped sound that tapes normally get after about 15-20 listens. I loved it so much. Then it got ruined then I was Dangerous Minds soundtrack-less. But God love my mom, she bought it for me on CD. That disc has been played out alot too! It has scratches due to how I USED TO treat my CDs, now I treat them with ultimate care. But check this album out and buy the DVD with it too. Awesome movie, awesome soundtrack!
