Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars could've been more.......2006-06-20

the score is good, but this cd wouldve been better if they would have thrown in some of the songs. I would have loved to get whatever song was playing during the scene where monkeybone is dreaming on the golf course and hpnos interrupts him. Also not to be missed was Brendan Fraser singing Brickhouse. They missed some great opportunities with this cd.

5 out of 5 stars Band not featured on album..........2003-09-07

the band in question from the first review is called Electrasy and the song is called Renegades...the album is entitled "In Here We Fall"

hope this helps...

3 out of 5 stars missing song?.......2003-04-16

i nkow this soundtrack was meant to only contain the ochestral songs from monkeybone, but it would have made much better listening if it contained some of the other songs heard in the film. for example, the cool pop/rock song at the end which i cant seem to find the name of. it sounds like the main words in the chorus are "some other world". whats it called and who's it by?

4 out of 5 stars Welcome to Downtown...........2001-05-18

I highly recommend this CD to any fan of Monkeybone--or anyone interested in wonderful music. The only reason I didn't give this CD 5 stars is because it is missing two wonderful tracks--Monekybone's "Loose Caboose" song from the Coma Bar and Brendan Fraser's outstanding performance of "Brick House" The best track off this CD would have to be "Welcome to Downtown" (Track 2) The beginning is a bit slow, but anyone who knows the movie recognizes the swelling music 1 minute and 19 seconds in as the roller-coster ride into Downtown--I recommend putting this on either huge speakers or headphones, turning out the lights, laying down and closing your eyes while listening to this track--it's so enriching that you can almost feel the plunge into purgatory. This CD is far from it, though--it's like a little sample of Heaven.

5 out of 5 stars "fantasy comedy, adventure, action and a fun film score".......2001-04-03

Anne Dudley is no stranger to film music, also new age and highly responsible for the techno-electronic movement ~ one of the original members of "The Art of Noise" ~ her talent is unlimited. Classically trained at the Royal College of Music ~ a producer ~ Arranger ~ Conductor ~ superb composer ~ all the ingredients of an outstanding score for director Henry Selick...who gave us "The Nightmare Before Christmas" (1993) and "James and the Giant Peach" (1996).

Dudley gives us a splendid score, as for her past accomplishments ~ "Say Anything" (1989) ~ "The Crying Game" (1992) and many others ~ "The Full Monty", which she won the Academy Award for Best Original Musical or Comedy Score" in 1997.

Much gratitude to ~ Roger Dudley (producer) ~ Robert Townson (executive producer) ~ Geoff Alexander (orchestration) ~ Mike Ross-Trevor (recorded/mixer) ~ and a special thanks to Anne Dudley (composer/conductor/orchestration) and Varese Sarabande.

Also available on Varese Sarabande by Anne Dudley ~ "The 10th Kingdom" (302 066 115 2) in 2000.
