Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Surprising hiphop/soul album from Winged Migration compose.......2003-11-25

Being a new age music reviewer for bn.com, I sometimes received albums from new age labels, but they weren't particularly New Age. One look at this, and I knew it wasn't new age. But gave it a spin anyway. Though hip hop and rap generally sends me to fast forward switch, those tracks (some in French) were genuinely intriguing and original...and backed with REAL orchestra. On one track, all words start with "S"...just try to duplicate it.
When I stopped to really listen to the lyrics, I was blown away. The depth of the "issues" tackled on this soul/hiphop/orchestral album is nothing short of spectacular. This album was brilliant...and with such top american soul artists as Issac Hayes. And you could tell all the performers were on board for this, and it's become one of my favorite albums.
When I got Winged Migration, I fell in love with it as well...and eventually sensed something familiar. Oh, this french dude, Bruno Coulais. Didn't he do The Magnet? Yes indeed. I heard the movie of The Magnet was really bad...I want to see it one day anyway, just to see how the music works with the film.
