Think of The Money Spyder as the soundtrack to the coolest '60s international spy movie never made. Go-go Fender guitars and Hammond organ race from beginning to end. From the title track, with its mysterious piano line, to the urgent, fuzz-infested "Car Chase," we can pretty easily dream up a story line. From Carnaby Street we travel to the arms of an exotic double agent ("The Spiral Staircase"), only to end up somewhere in Spain for the final showdown ("Buzy Bee"). Ah, they don't make flicks like this anymore. --Percy Keegan

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Swinging 60's.......2001-02-10

"The Money Spyder" sounds like the soundtrack for a lost James Bond movie (Sean Connery-era Bond) scored by John Barry. Twangy guitars and cooler-than-cool organ parts. Not sure why it's categorized as acid jazz; it has more in common with the great instrumental surf bands of the 60's like the Ventures. Great party music for all your go-go needs.

2 out of 5 stars Repetitive bargain basement recording.......2001-01-03

Sorry, but this JTQ CD sounds awful. Aside from the loud tape hiss, there is almost no bass on this recording. The whole thing sounds like a relentless go-go dance soundtrack at a 60's Soho nightclub without a hardly a breather. Sure, there's one mellow cut with a couple of out of tune saxophones, and another slower one with a bizarre, annoying drone of chirping birds in the background. The rest is headache material: tinny, fast, and repetitive. JTQ Creation is so much better.

5 out of 5 stars groovy funkalicious.......1999-10-12
