Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Zulu Mono.......2004-10-12

First, let me say I was predisposed to buying this disc. I've liked Barry's music since Dr No. He is a remarkable composer.

Zulu. I don't own this disc. I heard some audio samples on the German Amazon website. Here are some details, and fans of the Zulu score won't like them. The recording is in mono and sounds a bit harsh. There are NO tracks of the wonderful, wonderful Zulu vocals. The tracks listed as Zulu stamps are jazzed up things NOT from the film score. Richard Burton's naration is here and his voice is, as always, fabulous. He could read a phone book and make it sound good. However, those of us seeking a stereo CD recording of this classic Barry score with Zulu vocals must, sadly, look elsewhere.

At least MGM made a fabulous looking DVD release of the film. Maybe Rhino could find the original elements? Their rematered film score releases are, generaly, excellent.
