1 out of 5 stars Oh please.......2003-05-16

Everybody knows or should know that Killing Heidi are nothing more than a poor man's Mavis's, or rather, a watered-down, mass-market-acceptable, cynical record company executive's version of the Mavis's.

The Mavis's were a band led by a kooky-looking brother and sister from rural Victoria who combined insanely catchy pop hooks with noisy guitar. Unfortunately they were a bit edgy and challenging for the mainstream pop audience. What has clearly happened is some record company genius has said "What we need is a band like the Mavis's, but one that is a bit safer, and will do what it is told." Hence Killing Heidi. I couldn't and still can't believe the amount of record company hype they had behind them - even before they had a record out they were in Melbourne's best selling newspaper virtually every day - their publicist must be the hardest working man (or woman) in show business.
Killing Heidi are a perfect example of the cynicism of the music business which has inflicted on us such lame acts as Bush, Creed and all the other god-awful acts we have to put up with on a daily basis.
I'd say more, but it's time for my lunch break... (likes the Smashing Pumpkins, fer pete's sake!!)

What's the record like? Lousy, obviously.

5 out of 5 stars AMAZING.......2002-11-29

Every song on this cd is incredible. Ella's vocals can not be beat. And the lyrics her and her bro wrote are awesome. They are a wonderful live band as well as in the studio. It is a must have cd please buy. The new cd is awesome as well listen to the new heavensent single and spread the word!

5 out of 5 stars Great Music From A Young Aussie Band.......2002-07-26

Killing Heidi have released a great CD here. As with any CD there are a couple which don't qualify for `song of the year' but none of them should prevent you from buying `Reflector.' Killing Heidi would have to be one of the best live acts around these days. This is amazing considering they are a young Aussie band. It takes a lot to be a great live act considering most music today is created with a lot of help from computer generated sound effects. Killing Heidi need none of this, but this CD is not live so no need to worry if they were terrible live. All they need is lead singer Ella Hooper's voice. Its fantastic and hard to rival. Listen out for the highlights of the CD; the radio hits Mascara, Weir, Live Without It and Superman/Supergirl. Those are to name a few. The less known but brilliant songs on the CD are Astral Boy and A Jar Labelled Small. All songs are written by the brother and sister Ella and Jesse Hopper who couldn't have done a better job. This CD can be listened to over and over again and is a pleasure each time. Worth a little money for a lot of entertainment. >Enjoy<

5 out of 5 stars Not girl-punk by any means but they rock.......2002-03-12

Killing Heidi, although too poppy for many, rock much harder than many bands today. Ella Hooper, the teenage lyricist and front-girl, is fairly incredible with a voice that would be hard to match. The rest of the band (including Ella's brother Jesse) puts out some great music to back up Ella. Together they've got an album that's, not only really good, but totally fun to listen to. Grab this if a radio-friendly track or two don't force you to turn up your elitist nose.
