Customer Reviews:
PAT TRAVERS IS ANOTHER LEGENDARY GUITARIST THAT FOREVER CHANGED 70'S ROCK N' ROLL AND BEYOND. .......2007-04-08
I will be writing a review on the legendary historic live CD album entitled "THE PAT TRAVERS BAND, BBC RADIO 1 LIVE IN CONCERT" by one of Rock's greatest guitarists that dared to change 70's Rock n' Roll forever. I give you one of Toronto, Canada's pride and joy's, MR. PAT TRAVERS. This legendary live album was originally released as a Canadian import in 1992 on Compact Disc on the Windsong International label in association with Griffin Music and BBC Enterprises Ltd. As always, if I hear any new additional information concerning this legendary live album or the artist, I will edit this review immediately so that you the consumer will get the best informative and most accurate review possible.
PAT TRAVERS will forever go down in Rock n' Roll history and be remembered for his blasting and thundering guitar riffs and licks not to mention his famous lyric quote "Snortin' Whiskey and Drinkin' Cocaine." Hailing from Toronto, Canada, When PAT TRAVERS came on the music scene in 1976, his goal was quite simple. TRAVERS' intentions in Rock n' Roll were extremely bad and to just kick a*s. PAT TRAVERS would release some great albums and incredible songs in the 70's. Legendary songs such as the 70's Rock anthem "Stevie," "Boom Boom (Out Go The Lights)," "Makin' Magic," "Crash And Burn," "Rock N' Roll Susie," "Stop And Smile" and "Snortin' Whiskey." Believe me when I say that there are many more songs that I failed to mention but I think you get the point. If the studio versions of these songs sounded great, just imagine how great these songs sounded live. PAT TRAVERS would release his first live album in 1979 entitled "LIVE! GO FOR WHAT YOU KNOW" to highly critically acclaim. With this in mind, PAT TRAVERS was red hot and on fire when he played live which brings me to the live album I'm about to review for you now. In my opinion, the "BBC RADIO 1 LIVE IN CONCERT" is without a doubt, a true testament of the sheer genius and musical creativity of PAT TRAVERS and a fine fitting tribute to a great legendary performer that has forever left his mark in Rock n' Roll history.
Before I begin this review, I would like to stress that this legendary concert is taken from two different shows. Song tracks 1 through 9 are recorded live at the Reading Festival on 23 August 1980. Song tracks 10 through 13 are recorded live at Sight & Sound In Concert on 29 July 1977.
Now it is time to let PAT TRAVERS Rock n' Roll music speak for itself and do all of the talking. This legendary live album begins with the a*s kickin' hard Rocker "Rock n' Roll Susie," the slow tough and rugged hard Rocker "Your Love Can't Be Right," the blistering hard Rocker "Life In London," the legendary blues classic done the PAT TRAVERS way, "Born Under A Bad Sign," the in your face, a*s kicking hard Rocker "Boom Boom Out Go The Lights," the groundbreaking a*s kicking hard Rocker that would forever show you how to enjoy Whiskey and Cocaine, "Snortin' Whiskey," the breathtaking hard a*s Rocker "Hooked On Music," the fast and speedy guitar whining hard Rocker "Hammerhead," the slow but energetic hard kicking Rocker "It Makes No Difference," the incredible quick chord changing a*s kicking hard Rocker "It Ain't What It Seems," the blasting hard Rocker "Gettin' Betta," the guitar whining and screeching hard Rocker "You Don't Love Me" and the forever PAT TRAVERS trademark thrashing hard Rocker "Makin' Magic." Again, I just have to stress the incredible and blistering guitar riffs and licks that TRAVERS delivered through his guitar during the live recordings of both these shows. TRAVERS was so hot and on fire that you can almost envision rising flames on TRAVERS guitar strings as he is playing.
Overall, this is one hell of a live album worth seeking further into and checking out especially if you are a diehard PAT TRAVERS fan or a devout music collector. As for all of the curious newcomers and new beginners to the sound and music of PAT TRAVERS, I would definitely recommend buying this album. Because after you listen to this live album, you will want to buy more albums on this legendary artist. There are many PAT TRAVERS albums and compilation albums to choose from. Either way, you will not regret it nor will you ever be sorry or disappointed that you bought a PAT TRAVERS album.
I would like to highly recommend purchasing this legendary historic live album to own as a valuable and important part of his or her own personal music collection. This legendary live album has definitely already proven to stand the test of time and will always be around to be enjoyed, appreciated and cherished for many years to come, NOW AND FOREVER. This is one great live album that no music fan or devout music collector would want to be without.
In closing, PAT TRAVERS has continued to stay active in the Rock n' Roll world consistantly with the release of his new albums and touring the world to promote them. PAT TRAVERS has continued to entertain and perform before sold-out audiences the world over up to this very day. With this in mind, I guess it is safe to say that PAT TRAVERS is here to stay and is not going anywhere anytime soon. PAT TRAVERS has forever left his mark in Rock n' Roll history and will never be forgotten even if he takes a long break. So here's to you Pat. Thanks for the great memories. Keep Persevering. Keep The Faith. And as the saying goes, "AND THE REST IS ROCK N' ROLL HISTORY," need I say more? Thanks for reading my review and I hope that you have enjoyed reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it for your reading pleasure. I also hope that all of you will read all of my other reviews in the near future when time permits. PAT TRAVERS RULES. Long Live Rock n' Roll. Rock out always and take it easy. Forever In Rock, John L.
