Album Description
This high-selling debut (released 5/6/03) is now available as a limited edition pressing (5,000 copies), loaded with new and exclusive content. In "The Directors Cut" on the enhanced portion, Fall Out Boy will personally take fans through each song on the CD word-by-word and note-by-note to show them the CD exactly as the band intended everyone to see the record. Also includes new artwork, two unreleased bonus songs, and the "Saturday" video. This is not a new CD - just a new way to look at the original release.
Customer Reviews:
Funny Story..........2006-05-19
About 2 years ago when I came into possession of this fine CD I had no idea that it was the special edition. I just knew that I saw these guys play on some crappy side stage and they deserved further listening. So when I saw the CD in my local Sam Goody I picked it up. When I got home I saw the sticker that said only 5,000 copies were produced. The first thing I thought was not, "Oh, I'm so lucky." No, I thought, "How did this CD end up in some crappy little town whose only claim to fame is a Super Wal-Mart?"
Needless to say, I had no idea these guys would blow up as big as they did.
Now, onto the CD itself. Take This To Your Grave is a solid piece of work. Nothing particularly original, but sounds pretty great for cruising around during the summer. I personally enjoyed listening to it in my garage. It is battle scarred from dropping it outside many times.
The extra features are what I really like though. I don't care what band it is, I love listening to breakdowns of the songs, and Fall Out Boy's explainations are quite entertaining to say the least. The "Saturday" music video is pretty nice too. Probably my favorite of all their videos to date.
Regardless of theses extra features it still isn't worth paying more than $20 for. I can't see why you would even want to hunt down this version unless you are a hardcore fan.
I guess it is sort of ironic that a casual fan has a hold of this and so many die-hard fans don't.
Take This To Your Grave Again.......2005-02-10
Before you run out & attempt to buy this CD read first, this is a re-mastering of Fall Out Boy's first major label release under Fueled By Ramen "Take This To Your Grave" it isn't their upcomming album slated to come out sometime this yr. in 2005
With that said, if you liked the original release of the CD you'll probably enjoy this version, along with the 12 original songs there are two bonus songs...a dance remix of "Grand Theft Autumn" (which a snipet of can also be heard on the DVD of their last EP) and a cover of the song "Roxanne" by The Police...the cover is very good and the remix is just an upbeat dance in your car kinda song...
If you're a big Fall Out Boy fan you'll probably buy this album to support them or for the extra features, because on the enhanced portion of the CD Pete, Patrick, Joe, and Andy break down the songs word by word and note for note...also included is the music video for track 4 "Saturday" and a few other humerous snipets...
Along with the CD you'll recieve Fueled By Ramen's 04/05 Summer sampler featuring other great acts like Punchline, The Academy Is, and Gym Class heroes...as well as a few FOB tracks...
Overall even if you're not a huge fan you'll probably enjoy it
Maybe........2005-02-05
It's OK if you're a true Fall Out Boy fan. Other than that, the remix is found on the previous EP. It is interesting to hear about the songs, though, I must admit.
As for the other review. She doesn't know a thing what she's talking about. Fueled By Ramen is under Island Records, which Fall Out Boy signed to. Their first record on the label "Take This To Your Grave" was to be on Fueld By Ramen and if they succeeded they would be moved to Island Records. That's how it's going for their new release.
Catchy song titles, even better musicianship!.......2005-01-26
Fall Out Boy's reissue of "Take This To Your Grave", has the first 12 songs of the previous release with an added acoustic track. Worth the purchase all over again? YOU BET YOUR EMO LOVING SELF IT IS!!
I don't know how many times I saw this cd in the stores, passed it by, and brushed them off as just another punk/emo band. However, when I finally downloaded this album, I got right off my computer and bought it! Every song is catchy, funny, and impressively emotional.
Fall Out Boy is currently on the "Fueled By Ramen" record label but I don't expect them to stay there for much longer. They have talent beyond what they have done on this album and expect HUGE things from them in the future. Just hope they stay together and continue to rock with passion.
FOR FANS OF: Taking Back Sunday, Boys Night Out, The Academy Is..., and Funeral For a Friend.
