Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars I'm Biased. I Love All Cast........2006-04-03

I love The La's, I love Cast, I love Britpop. A fellow reviewer felt that Cast's second effort, "Mother Nature Calls" was bland and uninspiring. It was different than "All Change", Cast's first, and it's different than this album, Cast's latest. Each album has it's own strengths. This album is great for the fact it's an easy listen. It's poppy, upbeat, and maintains a positive progression from song to song. However, like I said, I am biased cause Cast is one of my favorite groups.

If you don't know much Cast, I'd encourage you to start with the first album, "All Change." You can pick it up used for a few bucks, and decide how you like the band from there. It's their most popular album with their most well-known singles.

4 out of 5 stars A Magic Hour.......2004-03-06

Magic Hour represents a great leap forward from Mother Nature Calls, which on the whole was bland and uninspiring.

The album opens on a high note with "Beat Mama," one of the catchiest tracks Cast has come up with yet. Listen to it once and just try to get it out of your head. The album continues with poppy tracks like "Compared to You" and the lovely title track, "Magic Hour."

John Power is one of the most underappreciated songwriters in Brit Pop, and this album shows off his gift for writing tunes with great melody and superb guitar work.
