Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars I love ALL the AHF albums!.......2005-02-22

Okay, here it is in a nutshell... I just found out about this band (Feb 2005) after seeing them live (opening for Bowling for Soup) in Burlington VT. They put on a ROCKIN show, and even cooler, they hung out after the show to talk with fans, sign CDs, etc. So I came onto amazon and ordered all their CDs, and I love it all! "We Can't Be Friends" is my favorite on this CD and alone would make the CD worth buying... "The Geeks Get the Girls" and "Hell Yeah" are also terrific. Check out their other CDs (American Hi-Fi and Art of Losing) for more great tunes. And you can watch the video for "Geeks" on launch.com (other videos are on their website, americanhi-fi.com). FYI, "Hearts on Parade" will be released in the US (Maverick Records) on April 12 (no, I get no kickbacks or anything, I just know this because they announced it at the show). I can't believe I never has heard of this group before, and why aren't they playing the heck out of these songs on the radio? This is one talented band, and I just wanted to help spread the word. I hate to even make comparisons, since all music is so different, but I notice shades of Cheap Trick (you can almost sing "Dream Police" along with the chorus of "Geeks Get the Girls"), Fountains of Wayne, The Waitresses (!), Adam Ant, and more, within their songs. So if you like any of that stuff, you will LOVE American Hi-Fi. And do NOT pass it up if you get the chance to see them perform live. Enjoy!

1 out of 5 stars shocking - do not approach.......2005-01-18

From their first album, the self titled American Hi Fi, i liked them. This album had catchy, guitar driven songs and was really what i had hoped for after hearing 'Flavour of the Weak'. Then came The Art Of Losing, this album was not as good as their first album but still contained some good tracks. This album however contains no good tracks, no catchy guitar driven songs and is a huge step backwards from their previous work. I will not be buying this album and i urge you to spend your money elsewhere(or on their old albums if you don't have them)as this was not only a waste of their time but also will be a waste of your money.
I am hugely dissapointed with this album and unless there is a huge turnaround in their quality, i will never consider buying a new release by them again.
If i could give this album 0 stars i would and i feel that i am being generous with 1 star.

1 out of 5 stars Laughable/Cringe-worthy.......2005-01-18

This album is the opposite of the old AHF. I listened to it on their website and was appalled. The songs aren't catchy. The singing is whiny, and the music is painful to listen to. Do yourself a favour by not buying this album. Listen to it on their site, then buy one of their old albums.

4 out of 5 stars Johnny's kick ass review on hearts on parade.......2004-12-29

I think this album is their best so far, stacy has stopped swearing which isnt so bad but hey hes done it. jamie has turned off the distortion on his guitar and drew has got a funkier bassline. Their old drummer left the band and they got a knew drummer ,though stacy did the drums on the album. And everything is different they might aswell change their name (lame joke i know) Their previous albums are much heavier but I say this is their best. The reason I was sooooooo generous with giving four stars is that they added piano and keyboards, and in every single secondof each song you can hear the basses pulse. This is by far their weirdest album yet. Stacys lyric writing has improved to a pop sound in a good way though, trust me this album is worth getting.
I also reccomend american hi-fi's other albums, american hi fi, american hi-fi live the rock and roll noodle soup, the art of losing, and sum 41s albums , take a look at, half hour of power, all killer no filer, does this look infected and chuckalso, sugarcults 2 albums, start static and palm trees and power lines, and of course all the blink 182 albums starting with dude ranch on wards dont bother with the first album its worth listening to but dont buy it.

5 out of 5 stars Hi-fi's different sound.......2004-12-26

Now, like most of you when i first heard this album i was like what is this. I loved their previous two albums and this one was so not close to the others. Then after a while the songs grow on you. I was thinking to myself is AHF a sellout and then i read an interview with Stacy Jones and he realizes there is an identity crisis in who they are and they are fine with that, They like to change their music with each album its never the same music. Anyway heres my short review of the album
