Album Description
Metropolis is the Mineral King's second release. The CD represents the return of the band's original line up of Art Forte, Carv Tefft and Tony Morosini. <P>The three members are veterans of the Bay Area, NYC and UK music scenes. With Metropolis, the MK's have created a sound that fuses a life's worth of influences and geographies. Individual band members have worked professionally with artists as diverse as Dave Grohl, Steve Miller, Buddy Guy and Journey. The sound is unmistakably unique yet familiar all at once. This is made evident from the first single, "North Beach Drifter".
Customer Reviews:
Rock for grown-ups.......2003-01-19
A seismic move forward for the MKs, Good Good Man and Jack'o'Lantern are superlative. Vocal quality is unrecognisable from earlier recordings - first rate - reviewers have drawn parallels with Midnight Oil and I can hear what they mean, however this is not a mere parody. Guys - get yourself a deal and DO give up the day job ;o)
Outstanding.......2002-12-07
It is far and few between that one ever gets the opportunity to sail off into Mineral Heaven. Metropolis will make you sail into the deep blue yonder. The unbelievably powerful lyrics made me shake in my boots. The hard driving music could propel a freight train to warp speed in under 3 seconds. It did remind me of my youthful whippit and Amile Nitrate days, but other than that I'd buy this CD NOW!!!!!!
MKs rock!!!.......2002-11-27
The Mineral Kings invoke sounds of a time gone by with this release. In an era of every band fitting into a prepackaged consumer friendly format, it's nice to hear something original. I love the emotional roller coaster of this CD. It's not all happy songs or all depressed songs. It's more like life. A real record company would never put out a product like this, as it doesn't fit neatly into a marketing person's slot.
Carv Tefft's throaty, masculine voice really pushes these songs. The driving drums, guitars and bass are original yet familiar. My only gripe is that it is only 10 songs.
