Album Description
Like his buddy Wild Billy Childish, Dan Melchior plunders elderly American musical styles...and then rams them back home to us as outpourings of some eccentric and curmudgeonly Brit weirdo who's sort of like an amped Doc Boggs. Melchoir freely combines second-hand Delta blues with grimy murder ballads from England and Appalachia. In The Red Records. 2002.
Customer Reviews:
What White Stripes fans should be spinning!.......2003-05-18
This new album by Dan Melchior and crew is one of the catchiest, rawest blues/garage records ever recorded. All the necessary ingrediants for a classic of this genre are here in spades; great slide guitar, well written songs, a solid back beat and loads of energy and attitude. Dan Melchior's appearance ensures he will never be an MTV heart-throb...short, stocky, receding hairline, moustache...let's just say he's got a great look for radio. It's a shame that stuff like this dictates who gets the pages in NME and who doesn't because some of the most deserving music is being ignored in favor of someone with a better haircut. I digress...BUY THIS ALBUM! This is an instant classic!
