Good balance between 80's goth rock and darkwave romance.......2002-01-05
The lyrics are poetic, but you can follow the story in each song. "As Lovers Fall" opens the album with a good balance of 80's gothic rock and darkwave romanticism, and sets the tone for the rest of the disc.
Musically, Judith has a lot in common with New York legends Requiem in White (later, Mors Syphilitca). This only makes sense, since Christopher was in RIW. Judith leans towards glam on the punk/glam meter for goth music. Most of their songs are dancefloor-friendly, but they avoid the monotony that marks some goth bands who set out to write dancefloor anthems.
The songs never overpower the vocals, and Nancy Keegan provides great harmonies on four tracks. "Arise," "Morningstar" and "Silhouette" stand out as the rockers, with the guitar turned up. "Autre Evenfall" sounds like something out of "Lawrence of Arabia."
"La Reveuse" is just as good an intro to Judith as their debut, "Fohn." If you like either one, you'll enjoy the other.
Great for fans of Goth.......2000-02-24
