Customer Reviews:
Not a great release by Killing Heidi.......2005-02-23
This is the 2nd installment of Killing Heidi, their sophmore album called 'Present'. This Aussie group continue in the style of their first album 'Reflector' with some notable good songs but some songs that go without saying - that they'd be better off missed. This is a 15 track release that many Killing Heidi fan's should enjoy. However it isn't a release that is chart topping.
Track 5: Heaven Sent and 13. Take It are good songs and one's that I enjoyed. This CD is an Australian import. Alas, Killing Heidi's best is from their recent album 'Killing Heidi'.
Better than Reflector but not that great.......2004-01-14
I really like Killing Heidi and I was excited to get this cd. Although Present doesn't give me as much as a headache like Reflector, it is almost annoying. First of all, Ella's voice isn't as loud but she cracks her voice so much I'm not sure if shes got a cold or if shes a boy going thru puberty. Second, the songs are catchy but can also really get under your skin. I wouldn't say Ella and her brother are the greatest lyric writers. Some songs I can hardly listen to because she just repeats the same thing over and over and over and over again. And the songs don't make sense. Its just random words (" walking always over windows weeping willow wind blows")Theres too much music and not enough words. I'd have to say that Ammyl, Burnt, Heavensent and Outside of Me are the best songs on the album. I'm not sure whats up with the Heidilude things either. Regardless of my over analyzing, Present has pretty catchy music. Its a good cd and its worth it.
It's a present to us...thanks KH!!!.......2003-04-06
After the success of their first album, Reflector, comes the second taste of Killing Heidi. WOW- the sound on their second album has certainly matured. The songs incorporate more of an electro-rock feel that differentiates it from today's pop/rock music world. The first release, HEAVENSENT was an immediate radio hit, with a high debut on the charts (Australian charts - ARIA)- it showed the change to it's listeners. Ella's vocals supported the trancey-rock melody and creates a soft heavenly feel....it can almost pass as a dance track. OUTSIDE OF ME is the part 2 of WIER...a great rock song that has Ella's vocals at high and lows, loud and soft. The third release AMMYL is another great rock pop tune that sounds different to what has been previously released- a bit more violent if you will! The outstanding tracks on the album are however- the so catchy TO FLY that can be used on an American TV show/movie for sure! Plus, 1,2,3,4,5 has that poetic sombre feel, a good addition to the ballad basket of goodies. Let us not forget the attempt to have a go at some swingin country SWEET- a fair go at an upbeat country rock (with that Ella vocal punch.) Killing Heidi will go further again...but all I can say, is if you like No Doubt, Lambretta, Lash, and that punk electro pop rock- Killing Heidi have the flavour you'll relish!
