Customer Reviews:
Slighting in Seattle.......2002-10-01
For anyone unfamiliar with The Heats/Heaters, they were a huge sensation in Seattle/Pacific NW from '78-'83. For Power Pop fans, these guys have it all: catchy tunes combined with equally catchy lyrics written by bandmembers Don Short and Steve Pearson, Beatlesque harmonies, and great guitar work. The "Live" CD combines all the songs from the "Have an Idea" LP, with some other unreleased original material and finishes with "covers" of some all-time classics. This CD is testament to the fact that The Heats/Heaters were victims of one of the greatest "slightings" in rock history as they never got the national recording contract they deserved.
The Most Underrated Power Pop Band of the 80's!.......2002-08-22
This CD reminds you just how good "power pop" music is, and clearly illustrates why the Heats/Heaters were such a vital force in the late 70's/early 80's Seattle rock scene. In a time now where pop music is continuously bland and uninspired, it is refreshing to hear tunes with clever, catchy melodies that defy you not to sing along, or to dance around your living room. I always thought they sounded kind of like what a new wave Beatles might have sounded like, beating with a rock and roll heart. As a devoted follower of the band, I always felt passionately that they never truly obtained the national recognition they so richly deserved. This CD is a must for those of you who loved the music of the early 80's, or anyone who loves upbeat, danceable rock and roll. While you're at it, track down their other CD, "Smoke," released under the name The Heats. You won't be sorry!
