Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Really quite great.......2004-11-26

This album is really very solid, easily the best thing Mr. Brown has done in his solo career. The songs have a "loose" feel to them, yet they are well-structured and very tight. Recommended.

1 out of 5 stars King Monkey struggles to avoid becoming a Frog Prince.......2004-06-06

CAUTION: DO NOT REMOVE SHOES WHILST LISTENING. So read the liner notes and apparently it is so this Brian Eno ripoff can be returned to the store for a refund with minimal inconveince. While its starts off with a string session on F.E.A.R. it soon lapses into a predictable morass of Dave Mckrapen keyboard synthesizer, drum machines and mixer sounds that barely pass for music to any brain not seriously damaged by years of E use. When Mr. Brown starts wailing spanish on El Mundo Pequeno, its the lone average tune remaining that proves maybe he has a future in Mexico entertaining on Univision(look out Don Fernando!). That aside, the rest of the album is gettin high crowd trash that makes you seriously yearn for his uniquely average work on UMB. Others will make excuses for Mr. Brown and keep saying its a "new direction" well its the wrong one as he has proven on the last 2.5 albums.

While I totally agree the Stone Roses never will, with each new album Mr. Brown is showing us he never was thus all he has to offer now are "collections" of other people's work... Clearly at this point the whole was greater than the parts.
