Album Description

VITAL DUO is the new band created by the PAYSSAN twin brothers, who are respectively MINIMUM VITAL's guitarist and keyboard player. They intend to work with the inspirational sources of their original band's music : baroque and ancient music, folk influences from various countries are magnified in order to create a totally original musical world led by acoustic instruments which are sometimes electrified, or supported by a few vocals. This music truly deserves the name of Progressive !!

You may have heard other bands with medieval influences, but this is nothing like Gryphon or Amazing Blondel. The instrumentation is is a mix of ancient and modern, but the spirit is placed firmly in the era of Guillaume de Machaut.
This album is infused with Gallic vitality, giving life and energy to venerable melodies. Guillaume de Machaut's music is appropriated freely, but it sits comfortably alongside the music written by the Payssan brothers for this album, such is their understanding of the medieval spirit.
My only criticism is that at over an hour the album is a trifle long. Especially given that there is only a little dynamic variation throughout the album.
