Japanese Version featuring Two Bonus Tracks: Slow Night, and Didn't I Want You

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars A shame these songs were left off of US release........2002-01-28

The Japanese import features "Didn't I Warn You", a duet with Shannon McNally, and "Slow Night" (in addition to the full set of song from the US version of Mine & Yours).

"Slow Night" is a wonderful, alt-country/McCartney-esque song that swirls about you. It starts out with just a guitar and Mead, as he sings about a slow summer night in the city. Mead croons out a lovely "ooh-oooh-ooohs" during the chorus, as strings and keyboards rise up to accompany him. The song completely captures an August night in New York.

"Didn't I Warn You" is a bittersweet song about the end of a relationship. Mead is known for his high, airy voice, and McNally's has a deep, earthy alto voice. Surprisingly, their voices mesh very well together. Piano is prominent on the song, but it isn't heavy or too slow. The bass and guitar are reminiscent of "Apart From You" (from Mead's 1999 release, The Luxury of Time). The tempo is perfect; the melody is addictive.
