This album is such a different creature from the horrid Tusk of Jaguar that it's amazing.

Normally I'm not a fan of instrumental rock music but this is really a very different sort of album. Right from the first track (Dancin' Siva) this guy just says 'Right, I'll show you what I can do". Further tracks like Soft Cream prove to people that this guy can do shredding and mellower stuff. This is somewhat experimental I suppose though not in the Steve Vai vein. And it's also mellow but not in the way that Joe Satriani is mellow. In some indescribable way it feels like a combination and it's one of the few purely instrumental releases that regularly visits my stereo.

The package is topped off by some lovely photos of our guitar hero taking his repose in a traditional Japanese garden/house. Instead of trying to be someone else (ie a shred head guitarist) Akira has hit a home run.

If you liked Akira's playing in Loudness, then you'll hate this. There's no shredding at all, just a wimpy attempt at the Seattle sound.
