Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars What a fun band and album.......2004-06-08

I stumbled into these guys yesterday at, of all places, the Foster City Art & Wine festival, where they were stuck with the thankless final slot on the music stage, which up to that point had been populated by...well, if you ever go to these sort of events, you know who plays them. Let's just say I didn't expect to hear anyone like Tragedy Andy and that I'd been purposely avoiding the music are before they came on.

As the late afternoon winds threatened to blow away everything at the festival and I struggled to get my two-year-old to go home rather than do the kiddie rides for the sixth straight hour, Tragedy Andy plugged in and let loose with a sound that had me struggling to work my way toward the stage while still staying close enough to my daughter so that I wouldn't be arrested for child endangerment. In spite of repeated sound problems, they were awesome, and having no idea who they were, I had to track them down to find out.

The nicest guys you could hope to meet, I was surprised to find out they were local, and I bought a copy of their CD as they packed up in hopes it would be half as good as they'd been live. When I got home and put it on, I was not disappointed, although my wife, who'd left the festival before Tragedy Andy played, was, wishing she'd stuck around to see them.

Tragedy Andy's songs, musical style and vocals remind me a great deal of Muzzle, a great band out of Seattle that should have made it big a few years ago but didn't (Their excellent album "Betty Pickup" is still available and highly recommended.). Given how much I liked Muzzle, that's high praise, and it's what drew me over toward the stage yesterday. But after listening to the CD a few times through, I'd recommend this album on its own merits. It's got great songs throughout, and as a previous reviewer said, they stick in your head and don't want to come out.

This is good stuff. Here's to hoping their upcoming tour of the Southwest brings them the attention they deserve.

5 out of 5 stars Nothing tragic about this CD.......2004-01-23

Tragedy Andy is an amazing band. Their vocals are well done, and they have their own sound. Almost all of their songs are different, and you can't just say "Oh, this whole CD is about ...." I really love this CD, and it won't be coming out of my player until they get a new one out!

5 out of 5 stars Hardworking Kids Do Good.......2004-01-14

If you haven't gotten yourself a copy of this CD, i highly reccommend that you do. It is rare that a hometown band can have such a following as these fellas do with such ardent and true fans.
The tunes are catchy. You will wake up with these songs in your head, and enjoy humming them as you go through your day!!!

5 out of 5 stars It's Never Too Late To Start Over.......2003-11-23

Tragedy Andy has some of the best vocals and harmonies I've heard of any bands around here. This new CD, which you can buy online or at one of their live shows, perfectly demonstrates how far a band can get with dedication and talent. They've come a long way, and will go much farther. Some of the standout songs on this CD are "Damsel," "3am Delerium" and "November," though every single track is well worth hearing. I gave this CD a five star rating because while "Damsel" has some scratches in the recording (I'm not sure if those are intentional or not), the CD is still great. I definitely suggest picking it up, or coming out to a show and seeing them perform their stuff live.
