Avoid.......2004-02-09
You know its worthless when the band itself disavowed this pile of goop. In short, it's a import of the worthless Renassanice album that came out a few years ago and is now deleted. Better packaged, but the concert still sounds like it was poorly recorded and recorded very slowly. Forget this turd.
Don't waste your money.......2002-02-21
If you're considering purchasing this cd you should think twice. Someone who apparently knows very little about the Ozark Mountain Daredevils and their music put the package together. The cd is advertised as containing a live show from 1976. It actually contains a show that took place in 1974. Apparently they weren't sure what the right date was and concluded that the show had to have taken place in 1976 because of the presence of songs that were not recorded until 1976. If they knew much about the Daredevils' music they would have known that the band played many songs in the early years (1972, 1973, etc.) that did not find their way to vinyl until later years. The fact that Jackie Blue was not included in the show should have tipped them off that it took place before that song became a hit (1975). Once that song became big, it was included in every show.
Here's why you should NOT buy this cd:
-The band did not have anything to do with the production of the cd, and does not support it.
-The artwork is poor...very amateur.
-The sound quality is poor. The show was originally broadcast on FM radio. In all likelihood, this cd was made from a cassette tape copy of the original broadcast. To make matters worse, they didn't even use a good copy of the show because analog hiss is very apparent. The kicker is that it plays way too slow. It blows my mind that they didn't make the effort to speed it up to the correct speed. Either they have never listened to another live recording of the Dares or they just don't care.
-It's nothing more than another version of that Concert Classics, Vol 8 (take a look at the reviews that thing got).
This disc will do nothing more than make you mad, whether you're a fan of the Daredevils or just a fan of good music. Whatever you do, don't waste your money on this!
