Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Shoegazer music lives!.......2003-08-09

For those of you who wish for "the days of yore", when music was actually good will be very pleased with the latest offering by Lowsunday. Like many, I grew up listening to bands who had that "sound": Lush, Catherine Wheel, Ride, The Chameleons, Echo & The Bunnymen, etc. Lowsunday also must have listened to these same bands because it comes through in their music.

My only complaint (if you can call it one) is that I would've made the vocals more sparse and added more reverb. Like the first album by Bauhaus, the mix is very raw but I think that it was because the band wanted a "live" sound and that's what they got.

Simply put, the track "Shine" is worth every cent spent on the album. The other tracks are fantastic as well and I hope that another album is in the wings.

4 out of 5 stars Big, Loud, Lush & Melodic.......2001-06-30

Lowsunday has created an album that recalls the best moments of bands such as The Chameleons, Catherine Wheel, and even The Cure at their more atmospheric. If you like that sort of thing but haven't had much luck finding it lately (I know I haven't) this is the CD for you -- and from a band from Pittsburgh, of all places! Swirling guitars, lots of reverb, and some memorable tunes make this one a winner. The only two complaints are minor. For one, the drums could have been a little more prominent in the mix. A.T. Vish is a great player, but you can't always hear the nuances of his playing because of the mix. In relation to that I think the overall sound of the disc would have been better if it were a bit crisper. But as I said, these are small complaints, and the album's merits far outweigh them. This CD would probably be a huge hit in England -- if you like heavy, dark, gloomy pop-rock, don't miss it.

5 out of 5 stars Elesgiem is a hidden gem.......2001-05-10

I bought this record solely on the recommendation of a friend and I have to say I was not disappointed. Lowsunday have almost restored my faith in the whole dwindling guitar band scene, and I never thought I'd say that about a Canadian band! It's a classy, melodic and soulful record and I wouldn't be without it- I'm glad I took a risk in purchasing it.
