Customer Reviews:
Alternative, yet amusing. .......2006-07-10
Bullet in the Head
by Scarecrow Adams
4/5
It's almost like this strange, eerie, and hippie's reproduction of the song. I actually dig the bass line in this one a lot, less energy than the original, but keep in mind: this isn't RATM performing it.
People of the Sun
by Tavu
5/5
Really fast and distorted, it's a great cover of it. It's probably amongst my favorite on the album, the vocals are mix between powerful hip-hop and metal.
Wake Up
by Silversun
1/5
This one is pretty lame, the vocals are in complete whispering, it ruins the conceptual ideology behind the song.
Sleep Now in the Fire
by Atwater
4/5
Really cool acoustic and calming interpretation of the original, I think a lot of RATM fans would actually like this one.
Testify
by Minstrels
2/5
Cool instrumentals, but highly monotone vocals.
Bombtrack
by Sinus Giddy
4/5
It's kinda lame, funny, industrial, yet powerful.
Year of the Boomerang
by Jenny Barry
5/5
Amazing jazz song, amazing vocals, this is the BEST song on the album...
Freedom
by The Busdrivers
1/5
It's the worst cover of an amazing song
Guerilla Radio
by Jimmy and the Tercels
4/5
Cool song, weird vocals, lost of energy.
Bulls on Parade
by Evasl
4/5
Female fronted band, still hip-hop, pretty cool cover.
Killing in the Name
by Dark Gamballe
4/5
Metal cover of the song, still pushes with a lot of force.
So overall, I think the CD is great, but it took me months to get used to the large adjustment. This CD isn't for everyone, but don't just pass it off in a few listen, I've head this CD for over three years, yet I just started to like a lot of the songs. So, check it out, some horrible covers, some amazing ones.
A tribute at it's best.......2005-08-06
This cd is astounding, it truly shows the way bands show their appreciation. They don't necessarily portray the music just as Rage did, but instead do it in their own personal light. It's incredible in my eyes. It's just insane how a band with a meaning to it can be played in any music form, from jazz, to Johnny Cash style (I dunno what to call it) to even just having a female voice in the place of Zack. My personal favorites on the cd I would have to say would be "Bullet in the Head", "Testify", "Bombtrack", "Bulls On Parade" and "Freedom". Right now I was actually about to look for CDs by the bands that performed their tributes. I encourage any Rage fan to pick up this cd and put it in your cd player.
Its ok.......2004-11-27
This cd doesn't have good music that sounds like Rage Against the Machine but to me all it does is lets me understand the words to the songs that are actually by Rage a little better. So this cd could be bought if you like the political lyrics by Rage and not their actual music.
appreciate it for what it is.......2004-06-16
first of all if you don't appreciate this album for what it is than that just prooves that you are not a "real" Rage fan! that means that you are just a stupid hard rock fan that believes that everything should be hard rock. this also means that you can't appreciate multiple different genres of music, all you listen to is hard rock!! let me explain what a tribute is. a tribute is an album where many different bands from DIFFERENT Genres play songs of a certain band. this means that all the songs will sound different and they don't have to sound EXACTLY like the originals. if they sounded exactly like the originals that would make them a cover band then wouldn't it!!! this is a great album and it pays tribute to the greatest rock band in the world and should be appreciated for the lyrics and not for sounding EXACTLY like Rage. if you DO happen to like this album check out richard Cheese's version of Guerrilla radio on his album "Lounge against the machine" its hillarious.
