Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars The best album ever - a classic gem!.......2002-05-30

This is THE album from Culture Club released in 1983. If You buy a "best of" album, You'll probably get 50% of this album -but You'll need all songs! This is NOT a "best of", it is the second album released by Culture Club, but it could might as well be a "best of" compilation, it includes most of Culture Club's best songs and greatest hits. Don't think about it -buy it! You can't regret it!

5 out of 5 stars You'll Tumble 4 this album.......2000-12-08

Of all the albums in the 80s, Colour By Numbers by Culture Club is probably one of the most influential, if not memorable. It proppelled Boy George and Culture Club into superstardom and spawned a host of gender bending imitators.

Culture Club's first album, Kissing to Be Clever, relied solely on the strengths of its three hits, Do You REally Want to Hurt Me, Time (Clock of the Heart) (this song is left out on certain prints of the CD, so watch out), and I'll Tumble 4 Ya. The rest is really a mish mash heavily influenced by Caribbean sound. Their second album, COlour By Numbers rose above that, and it is pure pop. Almost every single track is a standout, each song propelling the listener into its own unique universe.

The biggest hit of the album, of course, is the country sounding Karma Chameleon. Others include the pounding Church of the Poison Mind, also Miss Me Blind, It's A Miracle, Victims, Black Money, and Stormkeeper. The album is also helped enormously from Helen Terry's powerful Aretha Franklin-like back vocals, noticably in Church of the Poison Mind, and That's the Way (I'm Only Trying to Help You).
