Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Tim Sendra is clueless.......2005-05-25

I just read the Tim Sendra All Music Guide review for this album and Tim Sendra is absolutely clueless. When he called Arrows "my world is turning on love" a ballad it was clear to me that he had not listened to the album. It's one of the fastest paced and most energetic songs on the album. It's not a ballad by any stretch of the imagination.
Also, the band is not a one hit wonder, as he says in his flawed error laden review. Apart from "I love rock and roll" they had other chart hits records. Arrows "touch too much" was top 10, and "my last night with you" was top 30.
The first rough version of "I love rock and roll" is on the cd as well, and even though Tim Sendra did not like it, Joan Jett certainly did. Sendra calls Arrows uninspiring. Tell that to Joan Jett . She seemed very inspired by Arrows. Without the Arrows there would be no "I love rock and roll", and Joan Jett's career might not have been so successful.
I have been waiting for the Arrows television tracks to be available for many years, and am pleased as punch that they are at last on cd. I loved that show, and have not heard those songs for a long time. My favorite is "faith in you", which could have been an early Eagles song, and it absolutely blows anything by the Arrows rival '70s band Smokie away.
Alan Merrill is a very talented singer, and Arrow group members Paul Varley on drums and Jake Hooker on guitar back him up with aplomb. Guest musicians include the Who's keyboard man Rabbit, guitarist Chris Spedding, and drummer Cozy Powell.
