Customer Reviews:
Live is better, but this is good!.......2005-03-08
I first saw Regan @ Brown's Island in Richmond. She reached out and snatched my shirtfront, and demanded I listen. Glad I did.
I've seen bar bands, superstars, critics' darlings, rockers, punks, cowboys, thugs, jazz players and bluesmen.
Regan can run with the big dogs. Great stage presence, great connections with the audience, and she so loves what she's doing- it's hard to say who having the most fun.
This CD has several great songs, and no "mas a menos" ones and that voice! So clearly hers!- I've been known to leave it in the CD player for days (luckily, my friends are willing to overlook certain quirks).
Of course, no CD can capture the experience of Regan live, but this is a great intro to her work, and a nifty fix between live shows!
better live.......2004-02-17
This album is too plastically pop-oriented to be one of singularity or to function as a good representation of what this artist is really like; it's a bit overdone and exaggerated and seems as if she and the producers are trying a little too hard to dress up the music, but seeing Regan live is a whole different story. Bare, stripped-down, and heartfelt, her live performances are worth experiencing over and over again. I recommend seeing her live performances first and getting live shows from tapers. However, if you can't get your hands on recorded live shows or can't see her for yourself and you want exposure to a good, unknown female artist who happens to be from Richmond, VA, then check it out. "I Will Do" and "Shine On" are the gems on this album.
Seen Her and Love Her.......2003-09-10
I've seen this girl preform a number of times here in Richmond over the past couple of years and have to say that each time I've been blown away. This album I have to say is her better of the two that she's recorded but for anyone who's really into something different and a touch more underground I would recomend her first album First Breath. But for anyone who's usually up beat and doesn't mind just grooving away the afternoon this is a terrific album!
wow.......2003-07-01
i saw regan live in omaha, ne and was blown away. her voice is great on the CD, but she is even more amazing live. her songs are catchy and i can't stop listening. i would recommend this album to anyone.
btw, i read the review before mine and i know not everyone can like the same things, but i have to disagree completely with his comments. regan is a natural talent. maybe he's jealous.
