Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars This is the CD to get if you were an Osmond fan!.......2004-06-01

If you want a CD collection of most of the best of the Osmonds' songs, this is the one. I love it! Their harmonies are so perfect. And I had forgotton how incredible Merrill's voice was (or maybe still is). Of course, there are a few personal favorite songs I would have loved to have had on here, but I don't think they're available on any CDs at this time. Glad that "That's My Girl" made it - it puts a lump in my throat and makes my eyes misty each time. I wonder if that song would make it if it were to be released today....

5 out of 5 stars Donny Osmand is like a mature adult.......2003-07-01

Donny Osman,
What a cutie. He acts like he's been their done that when in actuality he is only about ten or eleven when he makes this song. His voice finishes the group. I was moved to tears when i first heard him sing in the abc movie Inside The Osmonds. He has an incredible voice and i wish that i could have been alive during his golden years. I would have been one of his biggest supporters. This cd rocks!

4 out of 5 stars Overall, a fine collection from their most successful era.......2003-01-23

This collection of hit songs by the Osmond Brothers (as they were known at the time) is an adequate 'Greatest Hits' package from their most popular recording period (1971-1975) when the group had a hit animated television series and rivaled many recording acts for the teen-age market. It wasn't uncommon to see Donny's picture on the cover of '16' alongside that of David Cassidy and Bobby Sherman. Although "One Bad Apple,""Yo-Yo," and "Down By the Lazy River" were their best known songs from that era, this collection includes songs like "The Proud One," and "I'm Still Gonna Need You" which, I feel, have aged better than their biggest hits and feature the group's exquisite harmonies to the fullest. I agree with the reviews that mention the quality of the recordings, which varies throughout the CD ("I'm Still Gonna Need You" sounds like it was recorded from an old cassette tape!); for this reason, I've 'docked' the CD one star. For those of us whose only understanding of the Osmond Brothers begins with this era (I was 10 in 1971), we have never been exposed to most of their appearances on The Andy Williams Show or their albums from the early 1960's (before Donny was old enough to join the group). A few of their appearances have made it on to Andy Williams Show retrospectives; all of their appearances should be released to the public on CD and DVD; younger kids need to see and hear music from talented individuals that was made prior to the vulgarity that passes for popular music today. The Osmonds had talent to burn - this CD is a wonderful place to start!

5 out of 5 stars NEARLY PERFECT SELECTION OF OSMOND HITS.......2002-02-16

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS CD!!! The only problem I have with it is that it dosn't cover enough ground. I agree with others who say that there are songs missing that should have been included. I would have loved for it to include He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother, just to name one. That is also one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE Osmond songs. But this CD does go a long way toward providing me with enough Osmond songs to make me EXCEEDINGLY HAPPY. It brings back a lot of GREAT MEMORIES. Most of all, it proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Osmonds deserve a special place in music history. This CD has also done a lot toward once again making me a true Osmond fan.

5 out of 5 stars A good collection but could have been better!.......2002-01-11

This is proably the best Osmonds one-disc collection on CD you can get your hands on unless someone like Universal or Rhino can get the rights and do an more extensive job. I take this one over the skimpy 12 song best-of and the overdone Osmonds box set. At least it has most of the 1970-4 hits that made them world famous and has several fine album tracks from thier 1973 MGM album "Crazy Horses". I wish they could have added "The Drum" "Business" (from Part 3) and thier version of "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother" from the first album.
