Customer Reviews:
Salen Satisfies.......2007-01-06
From the opening track to the last track, this CD is impressive. While I
only recently heard this 2005 release for the first time, it has made a
strong impression on me and I highly recommend it to any classic rock fan,
especially those who are impressed by the music of Ray Davies/Kinks, Ian
Hunter/Mott, or solo Ron Wood . While Mr. Salen pens strictly his own music,
some of their influences come through in these songs, but this is just fine
with this music fan, who especially appreciates songwriting in the British
pop songwriting tradition, with some blues thrown in at times.
This album can't but help make you move- either your head, a foot or a hand
or two. It's got infectious music that will make you want to keep time. It
deserves repeated listenings and is definitely one of the better releases of
the past couple of years. Even after about three decades of performing,
writing and recording rock 'n' roll, Mr. Salen still has what it takes, and
has put out an admirable record that this reviewer feels will stand the test
of time.
Two Tuff Darts tunes make it onto the CD ("All for the Love of Rock 'n' Roll"
and "Head Over Heels") both of which still sound as good as they did when
they were originally recorded. It is a testament to the songwriting skills
of Mr. Salen and also meant to tease the new fans of Mr. Salen to check out
the 70's band he played in, Tuff Darts. As other Tuff Darts members play on
his CD, this only enhances the songs in their newly- recorded versions.
"You Gotta Know (Nobody Shows What they Really Feel)" is a standout for me,
and kind of sums it up: (Tuff) Jeff Salen DOES show how he feels, and
writes from the heart. It can't help but affect your mind, heart and soul
when you hear his songs. This a must-add to your collection CD in my
opinion. Pick it up!
Endless Road - Great Album.......2005-09-15
Tuff Jeff Salen shows his almost miraculous ability to blend the dynamism of the 1970s punk rock era with an appeal to modern times without losing any of the soul of that era. The choice of songs, excellent vocals, deep meaning lyrics and melody that keeps on rocking makes the listener wonder where to find more of this guy. I've bought copies to give to friends as gifts and they love it! Can't wait for your next album.

Following the Endless Road.......2005-08-06
So, I would never normally pick up a CD like this. But one has to admit that when someone comes out with a pedigree of music like Tuff Jeff, one perks up and listens. The guy has played with some of the Ramones and even worked with David Bowie, you know? So, I can say I was honestly impressed. The CD's got that old school rock and roll feel that everyone can appreciate. It's definitly worth listening to!
