Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Simply Red proves their staying power!.......2003-12-02

Simply Red's performing style evokes a nostalgic feeling and is instantly pleasurable listening...but several tracks on this CD are fresh enough for new listeners unfamiliar with their warm and winning style.

5 out of 5 stars Simply Red brings colour and life to our HOME!.......2003-08-25

"Home" is one of those albums that will resonate well 20 years from now. What is more important is that it resonates equally strong right now.
Being the fine craftsmen that Mike and the gang are perfecting the ideal pop songs, "Home" has several examples of this. From the title track to the likely hit "Fake" to the already smash success "Sunrise", the album plays like a bedtime story that you can listen to anytime during the day or night.
"Sunrise" proved Simply Red could update their sound and style to the likes of the modern stars and beat them at their own game! It's no wonder that the song is the opening cut for the twentysomething film "It Was Always Me" coming out this fall. A must buy for music lovers!

5 out of 5 stars This collection is a HIDDEN GEM!.......2003-07-31

Like most of the other reviewers here, I have been absolutely
enthralled by this latest album from Simply Red.

Mick and the "band" have combined their unique talents once
again and put together an album that crosses R&B, pop, jazz,
and funk genres - into territory that belongs solely to
Simply Red.

"Home," "Fake," and "Sunrise" start off this album superbly.
As I write this review, I am listening to the silky smooth
"Sunrise," my favorite track on the CD. Without giving away too
much, I didn't think anyone could improve classic Hall & Oates...
but Mick and company definitely have!

This CD will be a hidden gem for U.S. purchasers, who will
probably not hear much from "Home" on the air.

5 out of 5 stars No place like HOME.......2003-07-16

Absolutely awesome. I bought the CD a few weeks ago and I can't stop listening to it. After "Love and the Russian Winter", I found myself missing the flavor of earlier albums like "Picture Book" and "A New Flame". The good news is, Mick Hucknall's back and as great as ever. (As are all the other SR band members.) Every track is gorgeous and the variety of songs is perfect. "Sunrise" is definitely a favorite, as is "Fake." I was a little surprised to hear "You Make Me Feel Brand New"-but Mick pulled it off charmingly. A definite must for any SR fan.

4 out of 5 stars Hmmm, another wonderful Simply Red Smoothie! Thumbs up!!.......2003-06-20

This album is a joy to listen to, something to listen to while you're sitting on the sofa, feet up with a cup of warm coffee or a glass of irish cream on ice. Smooth and flowing. My favourite tracks in this album are "Home" (has a tinge of melancholy in it, but it perfectly captures the restlessness of being 'home'-less and the need to belong); "You Make Me Feel Brand New" (a perfect Stylistics serenade by a perfect voice!); "It's You" (mellow but yet wonderfully infused with warmth - don't listen to this track alone! *smile*); "Lost Weekend" (groovy with a touch of acid jazz - something to sway your body to!). And after you enjoy Hucknall's great voice, "Home (reprise)" track nicely closes the album with the yearning tunes ...

Get this CD, relax and enjoy, it will probably bring a smile on your face as has it done to me. A perfect Winter warmer!
