Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars One of the most inspirational albums in a long while........2000-12-21

Once a month or so, I enjoy a music splurge day. This is a day when I can catch-up on recommended tunes and expand my musical vision (so to speak). On this particular day, I grabbed two high profile types o'disks and Earth Church from Rosemary Silence. Within days the two mainstream artists ended up being traded and the Rosemary Silence disk lives in the changer still. This collection of musical poetry has been a tremendous inspiration, both creatively and spiritually. The only bummer is the lack of a second CD. I thank the artists for the great work.

5 out of 5 stars Find more as you listen more!.......2000-11-28

I got this album in the fall of 97' I lesten to it more now than I did then, Every time you listen to this album and it's powerful message the more it will hit you on a personal level. The first time I heard track #8 I was blown away! Not that is a hard hitting song but between the mix of Hamblin's voice and the guitar riff you can't get out of your head.. the lyrics will burn in your heart. You can't go wrong when you get this album. Like I said give it time and it will give you somthing to think about every day.

4 out of 5 stars Rock of Ages.......2000-11-09

When I listened to the first track of the Rosemary Silence CD I said to myself "What the hell have I just bought, a gospel album?" I was a little worried. Not that I'm opposed to gospel music mind you, it's just not what I anticipated. My reservations however were soon set to rest as I discovered an album full of great rock & roll songs. It reminded me of how rock bands used to be, un-afraid of stylistic exploration without loosing continuity or identity. The over all sound of the album is reminiscent of the East Coast college band scene utilizing acoustic and electric guitars, organs, horns, and the occassional harmonica but differs in that it has more of a timeless, less trendy feel to it by dabbling in Doors inspired swing beats and Hendix style guitar lines to Santana-esque latin jams. Of course with the ever present "plights of the spirit" overtones the gospel element is not to be denied. But when I say Gospel I mean in a Black Crows, Grant Lee Buffalo kind of way.
