Customer Reviews:
Likeable!.......2007-05-14
Nice Collection--eventhough I was not familiar with Omar until now. I still really enjoyed the tracks and were familiar with a few of the songs. Mellow with danceable tracks, emotional songs and the like. Nothing really stood out they all just sort of blended like a good cup of coffee. This is a nice selection for you collection if you are into neo-soul with an African flavor.
Finally a BEST OF..........2005-04-04
For those waiting for a true compilation, this is almost it. This album has tracks from his first two albums -- 'There's nothing like this' (2, 3, 8, 9, 14) and 'Music' (1, 4-7, 12, 13). NOTHING from 'For Pleasure', 'This is not a love song', or 'Best By Far', which could've easily made this album the definitive collection. Basically call this the Talkin Loud/Kongo Records Compilation, so hopefully the others from RCA and Oyster Music are soon to follow. Still, for those unfamiliar, this is a decent enough sampling for most. The only *new* tracks were 'Use Me' and 'Reality' (which is a take off from Get to Know you Better albeit with socio-political lyrics.) As far as albums goes, it flows quite well. The first 3 tracks are mellow, 4 and 5 are upbeat, 6 and 7 to some degree are let downs. By Track 8 things start to pick up again. Tracks 4, 5, and 12 are my favorites which showcase a variation of styles even in fast tempo songs. Tracks 1, 3, and 13 are good too from a ballad perspective.
Still waiting for a full "Best of Compilation". But this will do for now. 4.5 rounded to 5. Omar's website -- http://www.omarmusic.net
