Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars LYRICS are the Keys to this band. .......2005-06-28

This group has the best songs i've heard in the last five years. I'm a DJ from Denmark and I hear a lot of crap trying to pass for music. Mostly bands these days are trying to be fashionable. These guys are a true music group. Very versatile and great lyrics!! I also say the harmonies are special. Most bands can't do this anymore.

5 out of 5 stars An outstanding work of art. What an amazing debut album!!!!.......2005-05-06

All I can say is this album rocks. If you're looking for a mix of Bowie, Lennon, Radiohead, and the Beatles, then look no further. These guys just flat out "get it." My favorites on the album are "Make Up," "Box Office Stud," and "Make it Right."

4 out of 5 stars The Anti "The" band...it's about time! .......2005-04-23

At first I was charmed. Then dubious. But after reading up on these guys--I read their press release 2 days ago-- I came to the conclusion that they are just totally out of the loop! Thank God! When every band out there is trying to sound kitschy, or looking for strokes--pun intended--for their white boy funkiness, these guys are obviously somewhere else. They aren't going to be competing with the "The" bands or anything else mainstream any time soon. This is a cult band that sounds like a nascent genius who's finding their bearings. This is a good thing if you're like me! I'm about 30 and I don't even have a credit card. So, I'm obviously qualified to write critically about music.
1979 Cure and 1977 Elvis Costello had this particular sensibility. Fairly odd production with a beautifully innocent clashing of influences. A homemade masterpiece feel. Not slick at all! This is a romantic and beautifully imperfect record with really great great songs!! Song craft bursting at the seams. They might mature into something with further time or bigger production. It's obvious. But this is so much fun right now. I live in LA and I'm going to try and really want to see them pull this off live.
