5 out of 5 stars Blown Away.......2003-02-16

I just saw Puerto Muerto in Minneapolis. I decided to brave the cold winter night to see what they are all about and I'm glad I went to the show. I was entranced by the pair, as well as struck dumb. I went home and listened to the "Your Bloated" that I bought at the show, and realized it would be one of my favorites for years to come. The seething intensity of the music is evident, even in the more lilting songs and I enjoyed San Pedro and Jean Lafitte so much I almost jumped out of my skin!! This is a soon-to-be classic recording by a classic band.

5 out of 5 stars Viva Puerto Muerto!.......2003-02-14

I've been waiting for a band like this to come around for years. Although it took a couple listens to start getting it, I am now a rabid Puerto Muerto fan and want MORE! You wont be disappointed if you are a fan of strong songwriting and bands with balls.

3 out of 5 stars Missing something...........2003-02-09

i purchased this album after hearing "jean lafitte" and "san pedro" on the radio. i really liked the sound and had high hoped for the rest of the album. after hearing the cd once, i was a little dissapointed. the intensity i had heard on the radio did not cary through to the rest of the songs. about half of the songs on the album are slow, uninteresting and non-distinguishable from eachother. some of the lyrics feel just plain lazy to me. i too often find myself spacing out listening to it and not rembering what i had heard. maybe i am being a little bit harsh on this group, but it is just because i feel they can do much better with their obvious tallents. i love the sound they create and look forward to seeing them live, but i couldnt recomend this to a friend.

4 out of 5 stars To the depths of the sea, and back up again..........2002-10-08

...this band took me there! Listening to Puerto Muerto's post modern future classics like "Jean Lafitte" and "Das Vidania" makes me howl "HELL YEAH!!!" The future and past of music has converged, and the product is Puerto Muerto's "Your Bloated Corpse Has Washed Ashore!"
