Album Details

Airless Are a Dazzling Hard Rock Band Hailing from Spain Complete with Classy Aor Melodic Sensibilities. As the Title Suggests "2nd Round" is the Bands Second Full Length Album and Debut on Lion Music Following their Acclaimed Self Titled Debut. "2nd Round" is 11 Tracks of Melodic Hard Rock at Its Finest, Yet a Little Harder Than Most Bands Within the Genre. The Classy Vocals from Iñaki Lazkano and Punchy Guitar Work of Robert Rodrigo Form the Basis of the Bands Trademark Sound, which is Fused by the Rock Solid Backbone of Miguel Manjón on Bass and Paco Martinez on Drums.

Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars Decent melodic rock from Spain.......2006-09-19

The 2005 album 2nd Round is - you guessed it - the second release from Spanish melodic rockers Airless. Unlike Sweden or the UK, Spain is hardly what you would consider a hotspot for AOR/melodic rock, so I was interested to hear what kind of sound the band would deliver.

Instead of opting for a retro Journey/Foreigner/Bad Company style, Airless has a more modern approach to melodic rock, similar to Harem Scarem, Lost Weekend, or perhaps Gotthard (though not at those bands' quality level). It's definitely more of a straightforward rock release than an AOR album, though it does have plenty of melody. The vocals are probably the album's weakest quality. A strong vocal performance is a must-have when I listen to a melodic rock album, and in this respect Airless falls short of the competition. I'm not necessarily demanding a Jorn Lande-level performance, but it's probably not a great sign when an album's standout song is an instrumental track.
