Customer Reviews:
Great Music Doesn't Sell, Too Bad........2004-03-02
A beautiful, melodic and well crafted album. The entire piece works well as a soundtrack to a saturday afternoon or a long drive in the country.
Literally ignored by radio and video stations in this hemisphere, the Cardigans continue to make music that is shiveringly cool and emotionally mature. None the less, talent cannot compete with 20" rims! There fan base outide North America continues to grow and new albums are sure to come.
'For What Its Worth' and 'A Strong Horse' are great songs to start with and open the album quite well. Past albums should be listened to.
Beautifully haunting, brilliantly sad.......2003-11-29
It is unfortunate that the Cardigans only have a small North American following, because this is a band that has produced throughout their career. "Long Gone Before Daylight" is a haunting journey, guided by the perfect voice of Nina Persson, through love and loss, war and tragedy. Nearly every song on this album is brilliant, and the highlights include the very sad "No Sleep", "You're the Storm", "Communication" and "Good Horse". A big fan of the Cardigans, I was hoping they would continue to explore the electronic experimentation they began on "Gran Turismo", but was more than happy to hear the mellow, loungy sounds of "Daylight". Be warned, this may not be a CD that will lift your spirits, because the lyrics are often dark, making this disc even more personal and influencial. Most slow albums like this are only good for one or two listens, but "Daylight" has found it way into my CD player hundreds of times since I bought it. This is a musical maturation for this band, a step forward in songwriting, and another lyrical leap forward.
incredible album.......2003-11-08
i must admit, up until 'Long Before Daylight' i wasn't much of a Cardigans fan, but one night i stumbled across the "you're the storm' track #2 on this album, and i was amazed, i had to have this ablum.........
