Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Freddies stuff.......2007-03-22

Nothing much to say ... this product is exactly what I expected and I am very pleased with it.
Although, its relatively expensive, I feel the whole package is more than worth the money involved for someone who really is a fan.
I thoroughly recommend it to anyone who is a Freddie Mercury fan.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful.......2007-01-12

It was like Christmas when I received this set. The book itself is a beautiful collector's item that alone is a fantastic addition to anyone's library. And the music. What can I say that hasn't already been said? All of Freddie's music minus Queen is contained here, plus a load of rarities and it is all fascinating. Some of it doesn't totally float my boat, I'll be honest, but the presentation and love that went into putting this set together makes it a can't-miss item for the Freddie fanatic.

5 out of 5 stars What a truly magnificent set!!!.......2006-12-21

Since others buyers have reviewed what an incredible, outstanding, amazing singer Freddie Mercury was very detailed and very good, I would like to comment about this set itself. First off, let me tell you that I was not gonna buy this set, why? Because I thought it was very expensive just for 10 CDs and 2 DVDs. I'm pretty sure most of you would think as I did, that it would be best to buy the singles for less price or download them from a P2P. I was under this dilemma and finally I decided to spend the 235 bucks for this, and let me tell you that it arrived yesterday and I was simply amazed how BIG and well packed was. It has also a big cover with Freddie's signature, on the left side of the cover says Freddie Mercury The SOLO Collection and once you pull the cover to get to the content it has in the center a picture of Freddie Mercury. Now comes the good part, it opens like opening a book (it's bigger than a book actually more than a Atlas), it has a large collection of photos from Mercury until his very last days all of them in high quality as well high resolution as well as information of his career. This is a great collection and it worths every peny, now I have Freddie's Mercury talent inmortalized in a beautiful, stunning complete set. If I knew it was gonna be this good from the beginning I wouldn't have hesitate, buy yours now you won't regreat it!

5 out of 5 stars Takes Freddie to a new level.......2005-10-12

If you only knew Freddie Mercury as lead singer of Queen, prepare to be...well, if not amazed, then impressed and increasingly intrigued. On 'Love Kills', he invests more warmth into a beat-driven ballad than in any Queen song (save perhaps It's A Hard Life, and that's in a class of it's own). And 'Love Me Like There's No Tomorrow' is the song that Queen fans will recognise as the one that Freddie always threatened to write and sing in Queen colours. The first few bars are so Bohemian Rhapsody, but in the inimicable solo Mercury way, they go their OWN way and turn into something more immediately listenable.
Queen? No, this is something different, and it probably would have benefitted from the democratic input which the group would have brought to it. But - and this is the highest praise - there are three or four songs on here which would have graced any Queen album after Jazz. For those of us who wish they - and he - had recorded more, this is invaluable. Absolutely invaluable. Buy or miss out.

5 out of 5 stars Beyond Queen: The Other Side of Freddie Mercury.......2005-05-06

People don't always realise that Freddie Mercury had tried a solo career of sorts. All of Queen did, even the low-profile John Deacon. Those who do may not know there was enough material to create an elabourate box set, which has ironically yet to be done with the group officially, but you never know!
"I Can Hear Music"/"Goin' Back" were actually the group, but it was way too soon for breakaway projects since they hadn't tested the waters as Queen since landing the much-needed EMI and Elektra/wea deals. "Love Kills" is actually the first solo single of Freddie's, picking up on the Metropolis revival started by "Radio Ga Ga". The rock mix may have be what it sounded like when Queen did it at Rock 'n' Rio (Freddie's then-boyfriend Jim Hutton said in his tell-all that it was performed there). The two studio releases, the remix album, alternates, and other long-lost tracks are all here, plus two DVDs, when first released, the format was still proving itself.
I first had the three-disc set, but the devout fan I am, I had to invest in this lot! Wouldn't Freddie want us to?
"We Will Rock You" has yet to rock Broadway. I gotta go. There's always Vegas and the West End! This is a side-bar!
