5 out of 5 stars Life Changing........2006-05-15

This album changed the way i judge good songwriting. The way this album flows is flawless. The lyrics are some the most sincere and powerful lyrics i know of. the music and production are amazing. The fact that copies of The Good Nurse are selling for one cent used is sinful, but great for you. go buy 3 copies right now. i promise you won't regret it...if you do...shame on you.

5 out of 5 stars Touched by a Weirdo.......2001-06-09

...or by genius. Either way, this album is special in a way few current works are. And that's what this is, a WORK, as in something important, beautiful, labored-over, even a little grand. This is NOT a religious album by any traditional definition, but I believe it's informed with something very "Christian" -- in the true meaning of that word. This is the most empathetic batch of songs you're likely to have heard. And yet they rock, really, really hard.

Five-Eight's other albums are well worth getting, but I have to admit, I have a hard time listening to them after The Good Nurse. They've ruined themselves for me!

5 out of 5 stars Buy this album.......2000-12-20

The more I listen to this album, the more brilliant it seems. It makes me laugh, cry, and panic all in the same breath. I have to say I'd never heard of Five-Eight before this cd, and in listening to it, I'm amazed they're not one of the most popular bands in the US. They are easily among the most talented and remarkable groups producing vital music today. And "The Good Nurse" is a beautiful, rich and memorable album. I will listen to it again and again, for a very long time and always get something new from it.

5 out of 5 stars With all apologies to Radiohead..........2000-11-04

THIS is the best album of the year. This may be the best album of the last five years. Every emotion you've ever been able to attach a name to is evoked within Mike Mantione's lyrics, and the music's depth shows itself a bit more with every listen.

Like so many other Athens musicians that never get due attention in today's glossy landscape, these guys should be on the cover of every music rag that matters.
