This release of Sean O'Hagan is decent insofar as it shows off transition material for the High Llamas leadman. Songs such as "Perry Como" are poppy and mildly entertaining. But the record does not suffice as an artistic statement in that it does not contain the interesting instrumentation, electronic embellishments, surreal soundscapes, or depth of later High Llamas recordings. Thus, it is indeed interesting for comparison's sake, but it does not stand well on its own. In my opinion, it is recommended for High Llamas fans but is not the best introduction for new listeners.
