Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Great Rocker!.......2007-05-21

I don't understand some of the bad reviews here? This album is great! Just because it isn't as technical as some of the others, these songs rock! "Working Man" is one of the most awesome songs ever and "Finding My Way" has one of the best riffs ever. These songs are all fun great rockers. Rutsey is not Peart, but his drumming is very solid and suits these songs well.

5 out of 5 stars what a great album.......2007-04-29

Just because the debut album from Rush is more like a straight forward hard rock album, it doesn't mean the album is bad. This was the beginning stages of Rush, and everyone knows the very first album is always going to be different from the rest, especially when it comes to 70's rock. That's just how it was back then.

"Working Man" is a very heavy song with lots of guitar soloing, making the song even better, in my opinion. The surprise highlight is "Take a Friend" with wonderful vocals from Geddy Lee. Sure, his voice isn't always enjoyable, and I admit, sometimes it's hard to take, but he does a fine job overall, and the guitar playing is great if you're a big fan of hard rock in general.

2 out of 5 stars Ya Gotta Start Somewhere.......2007-04-13

If Neil Peart hadn't come along we wouldn't be talking about Rush today. That's just how it is. This first album is fine if you think of it as an historical artifact. Here we see the raw talents of Lee and Lifeson first displayed. It's clear that Lee especially is a great talent on bass. However the lyrics are banal, when not silly, and Lee's voice just doesn't work with some of the macho swagger stuff like "In the Mood." Is it any wonder we never here most of this stuff live? Now, we can listen to the music and look at the pictures in this album and see young men who are so obviously dreaming of being rock and roll stars and compare them to the older, wiser, and more musically sophisticated men who, 33 years later (!) are 'making memories' for us under the moniker RUSH.

5 out of 5 stars R U S H !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2007-04-09

Always an ongoing cd replenishing process for me. Of course,Rush is a BIG part of this.Received this the other day and love it. Familiar with most of the 8 tunes from the album. We all should know by now, that Peart wasn't with them at this time. But it doesn't take away from the album .It is rock solid!!!!!!!!
From "Finding My Way","Take A Friend","What You're Doing","In The Mood" & "Working Man",this is as solid as they come.
