Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Cookin' with the Canibals.......2005-12-01

This is a welcome release by Dave & Jim. The only thing to improve on this would have been Steve Winwood's voice and keyboards. This reminds me of "Welcome To The Canteen" but with much better sound quality. If the producers of this gem would release the entire show I would be a happy man.
Hey, don't take my word for it, buy this one and judge for yourself. A GREAT DISK...
Mr. Capaldi, you are missed greatly, carry on Dave.

5 out of 5 stars Your money will not be wasted on this album............2005-09-29

I did not find the applause to be an annoyance. Yes, I agree that it could have been minimized at the beginning. Each and every one of the selections are excellent and add a different twist to the studio versions that we may or may not be familiar with.

"Love Will Keep Us Alive" was written by Jim Capaldi and Paul Carrack. That is why it is on this CD. The Eagles, not Poco, did a cover version which led many people assume that they were the writers as well.

My only complaint: I wish that it were a double CD with more selections from the tour.

As Archie states below,"Whether you're a Dave Mason fan or not, whether you're a Traffic fan or not, do yourself a favor and grab this before it disappears."

1 out of 5 stars don't waste your money.......2004-06-30

i am a big fan of dave mason's studio material and also his work with traffic but this cd is really poor. dear mr. fantasy is the only semi-good track and it's not great. most of the songs are acoustic not electric. as another reviewer already noted the crowd noise included is very annoying and really detracts from trying to enjoy the music. plus he covers "love will keep us alive" by poco -- where does that come from? your money is much better spent on his studio albums.

4 out of 5 stars Some great stuff.....can the applause, please.......2002-05-02

Once you buy and play a "live" cd...don't you already know there was an audience present and that they most likely enjoyed the show?

OK...aside from this minor complaint (it is all of thirty seconds into the first cut before the first note is played)...this set has some mighty fine stuff on it. Some good versions of old Traffic cuts ("Low Spark..." and "Dear Mr. Fantasy" come to mind) and some other covers (a great version of "Watchtower") make for a fine CD...but please, next time, a bit less applause for ourselves, guys.
