Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Awesome anthology from a "lost" NWOBHM band.......2006-10-25

In the early 1980's, the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement completely redefined and reenergized heavy metal, and gave rise to the genre's biggest acts, including Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, and (despite the band's recent comments to the contrary) Def Leppard. The NWOBHM movement also gave us dozens of lesser known bands that are well worth checking out, one of which is Dragster.

Dragster's sound was very much a product of its time. The band has a very NWOBHM, Diamond Head meets Saxon sound. What they may lack in originality, they more than make up for in pure energy. The songs collected here are hard charging rock anthems with plenty of speed and a surprising amount of melody. It's exactly the kind of hard rock you want blasting from your speakers as you're cruising down the highway.

To date, 1999's NWOBHM Revisited - the Very Best of Dragster is the only collection of Dragster material officially available. Their discography is a bit difficult to track down, but the 19 tracks on this disc seem like at least 2 albums worth of material. The sound quality is better than I expected, though perhaps not as good as some of Castle's NWOBHM remasters.
