Customer Reviews:
original NOT!!!!!.......2006-05-19
a so-called band that rips-off the style of other well known popular bands. each track is like a tribute to the bands they must like. for example, I LOVE HER track is so similar to TON(TYPE O NEG), BLEED: SYSTEM OF A DOWN, etc. NIN, STATIC-X on other ones. BLAH,BLAH,BLAH!!! its weak that a band can't create some style of their own.somewhat. luckily, the cd i got is a promotional only copy. no waste of $. i believe this band or is tomorrow's sound that END's. PERIOD!!!!
Whatever........2005-05-16
I like metal, I really do...but I hate this band. If I could give no stars I would.
There's this joke among guitar players: Thrash metal guitarists don't know which notes to play, so they just hit all of them.
This rings true. My ex played the track where Sin leads a la Yngwie Malsteem and turned to me when it was over. She asked me, "Wasn't that awesome?" and got this confused look on her face when I started laughing. If you want to listen to actual music, look elsewhere. Guh.
Dark, punishing, and catchy.......2005-04-13
The Good
A punishing chugga-chugga riff dominates the opening track "It Isn't Me". Zane delivers vocally like a man possessed. On the other hand, Zane lays down some great vocals on "Let Me Live". He hasn't gone soft, but he's found a way to remain edgy and melodic at the same time. "6 Months" is by far the most in-your-face track on the album. Not so much on the down-played verses, but the frenzied, drum pounding choruses. "Father" marches along with muted riffing and powerful vocals. The lyric content is sure to peak your curiousity as well.
A piercing lick and fevered drums help drive "Touch a Girl" over the edge. The combination of spoken words and sung vocals complement each other well. "Lord" is sure to make you lose control as it takes off with rapid-fire precision and concludes in a bloodied mess. The ax-skills of Sin take center stage on the instrumental "Enraptured", which is clearly an homage to Eddie Van Halen. "Wounded Veins" is loaded with industrial effects and tones.
The Bad
Zane needs to decide on one style of vocal delivery.
The Verdict
I must say that Society 1 have come along way over the years. Their latest album is dark, punishing, and catchy. If The Sound That Ends Creation doesn't end creation, it's gonna end something!
