1 out of 5 stars Please, Please, PLEASE..........2005-02-24

...will this repulsive, fat, balding, greedy reptile disappear forever?! I'm not asking much. I'm only asking that Greed $immon$ (and all like him) never, ever, EVER unleash a musical abortion upon the world like A-Hole AGAIN!!
I have never been a KISS fan (they never did it for me), but I decide to approach this album with an open mind. After all, Gene talks a lot of horsesh*t, but I was curious to see if he could back it up with good music (like Dave Mustaine does - I love Dave's music, and he'll always be one of my main guitar heroes, but seriously, the guy is a tool). And I'm sad to say that this album is, without hyperbole, the absolute WORST album to have ever soiled my ears (and over the years, I have been subjected to albums by Limp D*ckbizkit, the "Cool As Ice" soundtrack and the horror that was Six Feet Under's "Graveyard Classics", so that's saying alot). I STILL feel dirty, and no matter how hard I scrub, the dirt won't come off...
Of course, I wasn't stupid enough to actually PAY for this musical holocaust of an album - I downloaded it and burnt copies for everyone in my neighbourhood (Take THAT, Gene!!). When will Mr. $immon$ learn? Money is nice to have, but it can't buy you inspiration or TALENT. However, money CAN pay for good production, so what was Gene's excuse on this 'album'?
But I digress. Here are a couple of 'highlights'...

The Title Track - this song could have been (and probably WAS) written by a misguided teenage girl with an Avril Lavigne fixation. And the lyrics take stupidity to a whole new level... "You've got a personality like a bucket of pee"?!?! How Gene can keep a straight face on the album cover, with the knowledge that his name will forever be linked to THAT line is beyond me.

Firestarter - Guaranteed to clear any dance floor faster than a bomb threat. Musically identical to the original, but at least Keith Flynt had a little CHARACTER (even if he did look like the bastard son of Johnny Rotten and Ronald McDonald). My only question is "WHY"?

I'm not going to touch the other tracks. The only GOOD that could POSSIBLY come out of this horrific nightmare is the knowledge that whatever albums come after this couldn't POSSIBLY get any worse. You have been warned...

2 out of 5 stars At least Gene hit the name of the album..........2004-09-20

The name was meant to be "Firestarter", then it changed to "Dog" and finnaly it came to the stores as "A**hole". It could be anyone, it doesn't matter, 'cause the album would be equally bad. You can't take serious someone that someday recorded the Pinocchio theme, "When You Wish Upon a Star", because it's his favorite Disney movie. But at least you couldn't wait for something like this album.

Let's go straight to the point. Ureleased track from Kiss 1977, originally called "Jelly Roll", "Sweet Dirty & Love" opened the album, brings Eric Singer on the drums, and, on the condition of best quality rock'n roll music it's thousand light-years in front of anyone of the 12 tracks of this album. But you still have two other ones that deserves attention: the heavy "Weapons of Mass Destruction", with Bruce Kulick and "Carnival of Souls", with Richie Kotzen, this last one, an unreleased from Psycho Circus, the album of the fake return of Kiss original line-up. Oh, yeah, both guitar players steal the show!

Talkin' 'bout the rest... Imagine that "Firestarter", Prodigy cover (???) with Dave Navarro (ex-Jane's Addiction and Red Hot Chili Peppers) are not so worst! The situation isn't really good at all, right? "Waiting for the Morning Light", that the lyric was written with Bob Dylan, years ago, have a horrible piano line, and it's simply ridiculous! "Beautiful", "Now That You're Gone", "Dog", "If I Had a Gun" and "1,000 Dreams" (remember Pinocchio? Simmons got to write his own theme) goes from constrained to pathetic.

Simmons still bet his coins trying to sound modern in the title track, written by Frank Tostrup. Who?? The leader of the Norway band Shirleys Temple, that sended to Simmons Records a demo CD and now are getting some bucks with lawrights and royalties, 'cause he plays bass and drums in "A**hole". Oh, the song? Soundtrack to carry on any party from the cinema serie "American Pie". Yeah, that, you can twist your nose now!

But we still have "Black Tongue", written with Frank Zappa, and that have voice samples from the missed musician, and some nods of his guitar solos, duly followed by his son Dweezil. The song isn't bad, but still isn't good. Zappa was a crazy mad man, but I really doubt that he could ripp off or eat money... At last, he had a thousand of genius moments in his entire career, and I'm still wondering if he really would approve "Black Tongue", after listen the whole album. Pass far!!

5 out of 5 stars Gene has heart and style!.......2004-09-02

This long awaited CD is a 100% triumphant effort on the Demon's part! Do NOT buy this CD looking for "Destryer" re-re-re-revised - it's been done.... by KISS!!!! No, this is PURELY Gene - a couple of tracks ("Sweet and Dirty Love" (a song he originally wrote in the late '70's called "Jelly Roll") & "Weapons of Mass Destruction") offer no surprises, but are still in-your-face, vintage Gene material - while tracks like "A**Hole", "Beautiful", "Waiting for the Morning Light", and "If I had a Gun" will prove to all what a great mind Gene has for being UNIQUE! My personal favorite is "Whatever Turns You On (Turns Me On)" - a complete masterpiece with a great tune and right-on-the-money GENE lyrics! And, the Man who brought you "God of Thunder", "Unholy", and "Hate" now brings you "1,000 Dreams" - reminiscent of his 1978 Solo Album cover of "When You Wish Upon a Star"
Gene is truly a UNIQUE individual! Buy the CD, you will NOT be disappointed!

5 out of 5 stars GOD OF THUNDER DELIVERS.......2004-09-01

For those who like their music to sound the same from disc to disc don't even buy this. I have all material from KISS including the solo discs and I like them all. INCLUDING THIS ONE. I will even get the Paul Stanley one when he releases it around Jan. As far as I am concerned it is said best on the live albums. YOU WANTED THE BEST YOU GOT THE BEST. THE HOTTEST BAND IN THE WORLD. KISS!!!!!!!
