3 out of 5 stars Brainticket - 'Adventure' (Cleopatra).......2004-12-15

Originally released upon a small private label in 1980,'Adventure' is similar to their 'Voyage' effort(see my review). This later day Brainticket is okay. The 'main' lp portion contains two tracks,"Adventure,Pt.1" and "Adventure,Pt.2" of which neither did all that much for me.However, like the 'Voyage' CD,there's 25 minutes of bonus cuts that REALLY do make this reissue worthwhile.Totally dug the head-tripper "Machinery","3 Worlds" and the improvised "Robotika" as all three are good.Line-up is:Joel Vandroogenbroeck-flute&keyboards,Hans Deyssenroth-moog,Barney Palm-drums and Wilhelm Seefeldt-keyboards.Overall,I would say that 'Adventure' is more of an obscure experimental piece of work.If you like the other Brainticket releases, you MIGHT enjoy this.Should appeal to fans of Toad,Cluster,Neu! and possible Can.

4 out of 5 stars The return of Brainticket, with a totally different sound.......2001-09-10

For the longest time I thought Adventure came out after Voyage. I used to think Voyage came out in 1976 and Adventure in 1980. At least I know Adventure was released in 1980, because even the Purple Pyramid CD reissue stated it was recorded between May 1979 to January 1980. As it turned out Voyage was actually released in 1982, but it sounds very much like a 1976 recording, because there is a complete lack of an '80s sound, and complete lack of any '80s gear (no use of a Prophet V or Oberheim OBX), but stuffed with nothing but '70s equipment and keyboards and a totally '70s sound. The album only mentioned it was recorded on a night of February 6th, with no mention of year, making me wonder if that album was actually recorded in 1976 but not released until 1982. Getting proper info on Brainticket is a bit hard to come by. Whatever the case, Adventure was released first (1980), then Voyage (1982) before disappearing and reappearing in 2000 (with apparently Joel Vandroogenbroek releasing a string of very obscure and hard to come by solo albums during that period).
