Customer Reviews:
Not your father's lounge album..........2004-12-03
A splendid mix of contemporary artists performing what is considered modern lounge music. What ever the heck that's supposed to be! I wanted something other than the usual Rat Pack gig. I only know Buster Poindexter of "Hot, Hot, Hot"
fame and his contribution is one of the best tracks. This is a cool sounding album, with inovative arrangements, but usually a lot of uninspired lyrics. Add a star when you listen intoxicated, subtract one when your sober.
Great Lounge Listening!.......1999-11-21
This CD is wonderful for a groovy Sunday morning spent reading the paper AND a quick-stepping Friday night dancing with the neighbors between rounds of martinis and cosmopolitans. Every song is different...Cannot Not by Andy Prieboy being my favorite...and yet they all work together. This is not a old-style or traditional lounge compilation, but rather an insightful, original interpretation.
The Best Lounge CD I Have Ever Heard!.......1998-10-25
I recieved this disc when I was working at a radio station. It was on an indie label (Continuum) and my Music Director didn't give it the time of day. His mistake, My fortune!
This CD features Lounge Music as it is Today ("The Fabulous Sounds of NOW!"). This isn't the same old tired Deano and Frank, these are the groups that are making Lounge Music hip again. This CD also has a wide diversity of Lounge as well - with the hard-boiled crime of Donkey, the tortured crooning of Andy Prieboy, the hard edge Gallon Drunk (which you would swear is out of place here!), and the laid-back sound of The Zimmermans (My personal favorite!). Heck, even Buster Poindexter (of Hot,Hot,Hot! Fame) puts in an appearance!
This is one of those CDs that people are constantly asking you about when you play it. It appeals to Everyone, and makes a great addition to any collection (it has a permanent place in my Top 10!).
