Treat me like a fool........2005-06-22
This is Elvis Presley's second album, and it's a great one (then again, just about everything Elvis recorded in the '50s is great). 13 songs were recorded for the album on September 1, 2 and 3 in 1956. After "Too Much" and "Playing For Keeps" were set aside for a single (at the time, Elvis' singles were not included on albums), the album only had 11 songs, so "So Glad You're Mine" (a leftover from Elvis' first album session) was added to the album to make it an even 12 songs. The album shows Elvis' range, going from Little Richard rockers to country ballads. It also happens to feature my personal favorite Elvis song, "Love Me" (which reached #2 on the pop chart without being released as a single). The rather short original album has been expanded to 18 cuts, with the addition of six bonus tracks, which are songs that were released as singles around that same time period. Highly recommended to Elvis fans.
OLD is outstanding!.......2005-03-09
Been gathering Elvis Presley since 3rd grade. Jailhouse Rock cost $0.57c! Still have the 45.
>The Elvis 1956 is in original mono, for the true Elvis Presley 'addict', fan, afficianado! The titles listed on the front picture are not in LP order, as the same holds for the track listings on the reverse liner. The 2005 mono CD was recorded with outstanding care to present Elvis Aaron Presley at his recording BEST! There are too many tracks, the LP has 12.
Just play the first 12 tracks for the full effect of Elvis Presley. As for 'bonus tracks, as usual, those may have been rejected by Elvis Presley, and not on the RCA1254 LP for a reason. All the BMG/RCA 2005 re-made CDs in mono are TERRIFFIC!
>The old vinyl Lps run near $100.00, so the CDs are a great way to meet Elvis Presley, in mono. That's the way it was. Stereo came to light with THE BEATLES "Rubber Soul", and The Rolling Stones U.K. After-Math, around 1965-1966. 5-Stars on all the 2005 Elvis Presley CDs! Get a bunch, you can't lose. Elvis still sounds great, especially in the original monophonic mode!

Rock 'n' Roll!.......2004-06-17
This is his second album, featuring three Little Richard's songs ("Rip It Up", "Ready Teddy" and "Long Tall Sally"), Arthur 'Big Boy' Crudup's "So Glad You're Mine (which is absolutely fabulous), Red Foley's "Old Shep", and few originals ("Love Me", "Paralyzed",..). Bonus tracks are his hits "Anyway You Want Me", "Don't Be Cruel", Hound Dog", "Too Much", "Playing For Keeps" and "Love Me Tender". I don't see the reason for "Love Me Tender", which RCA already issued on "Jailhouse Rock/ Love Me Tender" CD. But after all this is excellent Rock 'n' Roll record.
Rock 'n' roll classic.......2003-10-26
Elvis Presley's 2nd LP, originally released in October 1956 and a classic rock 'n' roll album. With the exception of "So Glad You're Mine" the 12 tracks on the original LP were all cut at the three day studio session for RCA in September 1956 and presented the characteristic and wholly spontaneous blend of rock, country, and rhythm 'n' blues which conquered the music world in those days. At the same time Elvis revealed another side of his talent with the ballads "Playing For Keeps" and especially the stunning "Love Me".
For the present CD re-issue some more hits from other 1956 sessions have been added for good measure. By adding "Too Much", not included on the original LP, the listener now has the complete September 1956 session on one CD. Required listening for anyone caring for rock music.
