Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars It's no where near as cool as their other stuff.......2003-02-14

I'm sorry to say this- outside a couple of cool tracks
this doesn't hold my interest. Some songs, like the title
track are awesome. Other tracks like "Meltdown" are sonically
dissonant, trippy and are heavy numbers. Then there's the boring
remix material that does absolutely nothing for me. Overall-
I'd say it's worth for the 4 or 5 cool tracks- skip the dancey Remix ......

5 out of 5 stars Very complete album........2001-03-31

This cd is rad. There are three versions of the title track, which is a pretty good song, but I think the master song on this album is definitly "Perfect Skin Dub." From hearing the orginal version you would never expect it possible to cut it up and make a 12 minute long masterpiece in it's remix. It has a great guitar loop that makes the song. But aside from Slavestate and Perfect Skin, there are also 4 other new songs, the best of which is Meltdown. This cd offers quite a lot.

2 out of 5 stars Someone somewhere bored.......2000-03-03

I regret that I'm obliged to inform potential buyers that this CD is only a pale addition to your Godflesh collection. Actually, "Slavestate" is not an album, but a collection of pre-"Pure" tracks, remixes, and filler. Apart from the uncomfortable, mechanical, and stinging sound, there's a real lack of good songs and melodies. Particularly the remix tracks are just dull and disjointed industrial soundscapes with stiff-necked drum-machines. And the guitar riffs are always the same throughout the whole record. Take it as a collector's item for die-hard fans, but in consideration of great albums like "Songs of L&H" and "Us and them", "Slavestate" is a disappointment and a waste of time. I wouldn't buy this CD again.
