Album Description
FRAGIL is the most important Peruvian (Progressive) rock band. Its debut album "Avenida Larco" is a real gem of soft symphonic Progressive rock. Flute, Mellotron, guitar and delicate Spanish lyrics melodies make this album one of the most sought-after South-American rarities !!! As hard-working as ever, this line-up still tries, twenty years later, to confirm their existence. To do so, they've made a live album called "Sorpresa Del Tiempo" and issued on Musea. This live testimony was recorded on January 5th 1999, in a concert hall of Lima, the Peruvian capital, and is called El Muelle Uno. Listen to it: time seems to have stood still

Progressive rock masters from Peru.......2006-04-21
This a unique band with strong influences of old school progressive rock bands like Yes, Pink Floyd, and most obviously, Genesis. Albeit they developed their unique sound with the inclusion of Peruvian Andean rhythms. This album is highly recommended. Hopefully, their previous releases Av Larco, Serranio, and Cuento Real, will see the light in remastered editions someday. Enjoy it,
Peruvian skies.
SIMPLY THE BEST!!!!.......2004-11-15
This is the first time I feel so crazy to write something about an album. When I saw so few comments about Fragil's last CD, I was sure that people needed more information about this group.
Fragil (named after "Fragile", one of the best albums of Yes) is the best peruvian rock band, and maybe one of the best prog-rock bands in spanish. So, why it is unknown outside Peru?
Fragil was formed in the mid 70's by five young boys from Jesus Maria, a middle class quarter in Lima. They loved progressive groups like Genesis and Yes (the leadsinger, Andres Dulude even wore masks or make-up like Peter Gabriel's Genesis), and actually they started playing songs of these groups in hidden places because of official repression against rock (we were under militar dictatorship). It wasn't until 1980, after the return of democracy, that Fragil's music was allowed to be heared in peruvian radios. And it was simply a blast! "Av. Larco" (the song that gives the name to their first LP) became THE hymn of the eighties for young people, anxious to hear rock in our own words.
Unfortunately, what would be expected as the beginning of a succesfull career ended in a cicle of separations and reunions, and recently, problems with their label. But the few records that this supergroup did are jewels. Not kidding!!!
So, if you are looking for a modern version of prog-rock, I highly recommend this live record... and you don't have to know spanish to appreciate the textures and harmonic complexities of the songs. Amazon, don't you have a 10 stars cathegory???
