When "Cool" had Major Meaning........2004-12-28
Listned to my VINYL copy of Infinity in Sound with my sister, visiting from Vegas, during the holidays. Yes, we're in our late 50's and remember Esquivel as one of our progressive Dad's favorites. Brought back major memories, some chuckles, and a new appreciation for this guy. Get the cd--I'm gonna--mix yourself a smoothe one [there ARE no bad cocktails, later reviews notwithstanding] and chill.
do yourself a favor and buy the imports.......2002-01-18
Bar-None had the right idea...release these two groundbreaking recordings on one CD. Unfortunately they either received second or third generation masters from RCA or the tape to disc transfer was done using so-so equipment. Comparing this release to the two rare individual import CDs (yes they are out there) there is simply no contest. A beautiful high end rules on the imports, which is rolled off tremendously on the Bar-None version. There is even a little better low frequency extension and wider dynamic range on the imports as well. One thing is for sure, you want WILD AND CRAZY arrangements, then these recordings are for you...just seek out the imports.
Lounge music at it's best.......1999-03-07
I love Esquivel! I am huge fan of lounge music and just recently discovered Esquivel. Anyone who likes lounge music will certainly enjoy this cd. He has some tracks on this cd that have been used in old tv shows and I found it interesting to figure out how many I remembered. This is really the best of lounge music. You have got to check it out.
Esquivel: An essay in svelte swank.......1998-07-16
How could no one on God's green earth have reviewed this yet? Criminy! Esquivel is in a word AWESOME. If you're looking for mood music or just to feel slick while tossing back a particularly disgusting cocktail, Esquivel is your man, and Infinity in Sound is among the best of his stuff. Especially tracks 18 and 20.....sweeto.
