8 1/2 Beats.......2004-12-08
What would it sound like if King Crimson wrote the score for a Fellini film? Awesome!
Miriodor and the unbearable heights of post-RIO prog rock.......2004-04-19
Following a friend's advice, I sought Miriodor's 1996 release, "Jongleries Elastiques", which was supposed to be "good". How deeply I regret not having heard this before! I am convinced that this is precisely what progressive rock should be (if you heard this same statement about Swedish Anglagard, think again); this is certainly one of the best albums I have ever heard.
For the sake of clarity and usefulness, I should point out that my (prog) rock background is centered about classical Yes (from "The Yes Album" to "Tormato"), Pink Floyd (from "Atom Heart Mother" to "The Wall"), Magma (especially from "1001 Centigrades" to the Bobino concert), King Crimson (from "In the court of Crimson King" to "Beat"), Univers Zero (everything I've heard -- but I haven't come across "Crawling Wind" yet), Gentle Giant (from "Three Friends" to "Interview"), the electrical Miles (not that I dislike his earlier works, not at all!), Mahavishnu Orchestra (especially "The Inner Mounting Flame", "Birds of Fire" and "The Lost Trident Sessions") etc. I am pretty sure you could get the picture.
All in all, I urge anyone who likes some of the stuff listed above to rush to his nearest record shop and get himself a couple of Miriodor records. ("rush to his nearest record shop" is just a manner of speech; in Brazil, for instance, it is impossible to find any Miriodor at all). And do not despair : after "Jongleries..." there is still "Mekano" for you to try.
Canterbury circus music!.......2001-09-08
It's a shame that these jazzy rock musicians of the highest quality are completely unknown in Quebec ( their home). I had
to purchase my CD from a mail order house in the US. Cuneiform Records has a knack for finding these great acts and their stable of artists truly occupy a unique niche....
If you like Jongleries Elastiques check the other titles from Miriodor, you will be happy you did.

Completely agree with Clint's review, except for one thing: these guys are from Montreal, Quebec, Canada :-)
